Exclamation New evo 2005 RS clutch issue

I have a new EVO RS 05 and 1700 miles on it.....
It seems that the clutch is ALREADY slipping...at 5500 rpm to 7,000 the car is not going faster.....

Today it smelled like a burning clutch and I was driving normaly...

Now Mitsubishi dealer says this happens because people don't know how to drive.....HUGH?

I had a DSM 91 AWD with 212,000 miles on it (original owner) and I went through 1 clutch!!!
How can they say I don't know how to drive a standard?

Did anyone experience the same problem.....What is the solution?

Have you launched the car? My MR has 900 miles on it, and I've never smelled the clutch. I've gotten on it, but I've never "launched."

IIRC, within 12,000 miles the clutch should be covered under the warranty. Check your paperwork.

why don't u try this. bring the speed to bout 35-40mph shift to highest gear and floor it if tach swings and ur car didn't go anywhere chances are it's smoked clutch but if it holds clutch is ok.

Sounds like somebody may have cooked the clutch during delivery, ie driving off the transporter etc. That's more common than most people can imagine.

How many miles were on it when you purchased? And like someone said, it could be boost taper (but if you've had it for seven months and just noticed this problem, it probably isn't it).

you sure your fully enaging the clutch? Its not like the dsm clutch is better then the evos clutch, but since you now have alot more power to the wheels you have less margin for error.

Mine slipped once. That was when I tried High RPM clutch gridning launch. Then, I put 2nd gear in ....Bam!! it slipped like as if it was oiled. I smelled the burn. But it was fine after that. If it does constantly I think you are in trouble. Evo clutch is so weak! be careful with that. I will get a better clutch someday.
