What would you do with $5,000.00?
Alright well I am selling my Explorer at rock bottom private sale price to get rid of it, I think it may have a serious problem but I could be wrong. 1999 Explorer XLT 4wd with 87,000 miles on it. I am getting an EVO next spring, so what is the point of getting 15-16 city MPG when you don't need the space, the 4wd or Fords build quality. I plan on getting into something for $5k or less, a car, something that will be fun to drive and something that won't be hard for me to sell come EVO purchase time.
I was thinking of an Integra, Civic, Prelude, Celica... however all these cars seem to be pre 1995 for the price I want to spend and all have over 100,000k on them. I just don't want to have to put a dime besides oil changes, something that will be fun to bomb around in for now until I get the V/// and something decent looking. I thought of a 2g GS Eclipse or something but did Cwalk apply to N/A ones? I have a friend with a 1997 GS 5spd in that orangish red color, it's in great shape with 134,000 miles and he is on the stock clutch. He really has not had many problems with it... He won't sell it but what would you buy with $5,000 or less? Keep in mind I won't have it for more than a year, I wouldn't mind finding something with rims or some stereo stuff either, beyond that no mods will be done. I am thinking EVO here, I just don't want to have a hard time selling the car even if I take a few hundred dollar hit on it next spring. Gas mileage, looks, I don't want to put money into it, prefferably a 5spd.

Hmm, I have a 98 Acura Integra GS-R with 120k miles(mostly highway miles). Has a mp3 player, tein SS coilovers, HID, 1 year old clutch, AEM cold air intake, clifford autostarter and alarm, 20% tint, Buddy Club 2 rims, as well as winter tires, PIAA fog lights, reverse indigo gauges, and some minor mods. car runs fine, you wont need to spend any money on it for a while(I use only mobil 1 synthetic oil and filter). It does have some cosmetic damages like scratches and broken plastic. Im looking to sell it for about 6k. Let me know if you are interested.

5k or less?
option 1: Find a decent miles honduh to drive back and forth to work/school till you get the evo.
option 2: go find a 1g or 2g gsx or awd tsi and get a feel for the car. You WILL be able to sell it for decent money when your up for the evo.

i say get a civic you will be able to sell it for around the same price you paid, or keep it as a beater, thats wat i would do if i were you, if it were me? well i hate civics so thats not an option
Well I had a 1995 toyota tercel that I sold with nearly 200,000 miles on it in 03 when I bought my Evo, and it's still running strong (cousins bought it). I did nothing other than change the oil in it.
It definitely was not the funnest car, though. It was probably the slowest car on the road, but one of the most reliable...

Get an Impreza from 1993 - 1995. It will only cost you 2-3k and you can just save the rest of the money for the evo. Try to get your hands on a coupe. They're EASY to sell over on nasioc. awd, 5spd, if you get the 2.2l it has 140hp which is enough to just commute and such. They usually don't give any problems maintenance-wise. Just look for one with no rust...
