About to make an offer on 05 VIII
What I want: RR (or possibly WW) with SSL/
What I'm offering to pay: 30500 - B4 T&T
What the local dealer has:1 matching car (RR w/SSL). BUT it's their tester! 250 miles
. NO WAY!
I've seen a few pre-T&T prices people have been paying on here and even though this is below Edmund's listed invoice I think it's doable. Think I could get even less? I was thinking about faxing this offer to Mitsu dealers in all of MD, DC, and parts of VA and PA. I'm also cross shopping an STI which may help reinforce my bargaining. What do you think?

I wouldn't try lower, but others have claimed lower. 05 w/SSL for 30.5k is a smoking deal, so if you get it, then be quite pleased with yourself.

If you say that you are willing to pay 30.5k immediately for RR w/SSL and that you are in contact with many dealerships, the first of which to take the offer will get your business, then it may work.

It always comes down to supply and demand. If you go to a dealership and they have 10 or 12 Evos sitting around you should be able to get it for just about anything. If they only have one on the lot, then you are going to pay much more for it. When they have left overs from the previous model year, you will start to see rediculously good deals in the news papers etc. They were having a hard time getting rid of the 03's when I bought mine, which is how I got a good deal. When the IX is just around the corner, they will have a hard time getting rid of the 05's and that's when you will find the best deals.

My cousin is the Asst General Manager at a Mitsubishi dealership (highest volume sales in the SE region) and they sell all their Evos at or above MSRP.
I purchased my '05 with SSL for $500 below invoice only because of the Mitsubishi Loyalty Refund which was applied. Otherwise it is next to impossible to get it below invoice. He showed me the prices which he was selling the Evos for as I was complaining that 500 below was not enough.
Who knows, stranger things have happened.

In this case it was true as I have access to their DMS system (i do some computer work for them so I can see their F&I data) and the AGM is my cousin.

The more that people let dealerships get away with this stuff the more they will continue to do it. When I go to a dealership the minute they start playing BS games, I leave. It's extreamly simple, you have an exact number you will pay for the car before you go to the lot. Either the dealer agrees to that number or he doesn't. There is no room for negotiation. I don't care if it's a penny over your offer, you don't budge period. If they can't accept your offer, then don't get the car.
