A/C makes car almost stall sometimes
Hey guys. I thought I'd share something with the community, and maybe figure out why this happened.
Firstly, I was one of the unfortunates to have the bolt on the A/C condenser fan to strip and fall off, then damage the condenser. So, what I did was have the fan welded to the fan motor. (The metal part) Now at this point my A/C had not been working for a little over a year, so when the car was stalling with the A/C on, I thought it could have been the many things I had changed during that year.
About four days ago the weld broke off, and left the fan chattering while the fan motor was running. So, I took the condenser fan off and put the car back together. Now WTH? The car no longer stalls while the A/C is on? Don't get me wrong though, the A/C works fine as long as I'm not in heavy traffic where the efficiency drops off, but why did this fix the problem? I'm not very electrically inclined, so all I know about the condenser fan is that is has two speeds and pulls a little load off the alternator while running. Could this be related to a grounding issue? Thoughts?
Thanks
