Dealer mess up? or am I crazy?

ok..Im picking up my 05 Evo on Tuesday..Ive never seen the car, but its brand new, so I bought it...Anyhow, when I run the vin, it comes back as a MR, when I was told its not...when I run the vin of my buddies RS, it comes back as an RS.....
is it possible the dealer screwed up? the deal is done and its too late for them to change anything, I was just curious... what do I look for? Im not really sure the differences of the models..(other than I know the RS has no wing or power options)

i cant wait to pick up the car, Im glad I have a 400 mile trip home to speed up the break in!!!

Actually, I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to exceed 55mph or go on long trips before you've broken it in. I don't know about the VIN though. That's strange. Perhaps they gave you the wrong one?

6 speed.... a couple wierd ridges on the roof (aluminum roof) and dark BBS wheels....

If it's a MR it will have the Vortex Generator on the top of the rear hood, it will be 6-speed instead of 5-speed, it will have BBS rims instead of enkei's. I just bought a 05 EVO 8 and plan to converted into a MR at half the cost LOL.

Don't forget HIDs, guage pack, Bilsteins, and interior accents. I think he knows what kind of Evo he's buying.

They might have written down the wrong vin #. Anyway you have to take delivery of the car that's when you actually purchase the car.

This is a joke right? You have to buy a new transmission, the rims (which cost a ****load of cash, they're ****ing BBS forged rims), HIDs (the standard ones don't work, you have to go aftermarket), Bilsteins, etc. It's stupid to convert an Evo to an MR, you might as well just make your damn Evo faster with the money and get better aftermarket parts.

How much did you pay for it? that should tell you right there where your supposed to get an RS , GSR, MR...

when i ran my '05 Vin for insurance...it came up as an MR too...it is because the 5th and 6th number in the VIN are the same for the evo and evo mr (H8) but the rs has a code of (H3)

Hey, when you're done, please show us how much those BBS rims, Bilstein shocks, aluminum roof, aluminim side door beams, and ACD tranny cost to buy and install. If it costs you only 2k (half the difference between GSR and MR MSRP), I'll be very impressed. I don't even care about the minimal cost of the VG and MR accessories...

all 05's have the ACD and alum side beams.

Well, after he sells all of his stockers (rims, shocks, tranny) it can't be too bad.

This is not true. You can take long trips, you just shouldn't launch the car, rev it over 5000 RPM, or hold the engine at a steady speed for long periods of time. The trip will be a good opportunity to break in the engine, although it will not do much for breaking in the clutch. Just remember to vary RPM throughout the trip.
