Plus, wherever you can get a IX for $500 over invoice, you should be able to get an VIII for 2k UNDER invoice. You may believe you can get such a great deal on the IX, but I don't believe it one bit...

you don't have too it's ok.

If you get the VIII, be happy with it, it's a very sweet car, don't even test drive or pay attention to the IX, cuz it will just play mind games with you.

Ya I like the way the 8looks and but I have already owned a 8 but on the other hand I would hate to wait.

There's no "you" either, otherwise you'd be asking us whether to buy an '05 GSR w/SSL for 2k under invoice, rather than for the same price as a IX. Again, if you could get a IX for the SAME RELATIVE PRICE as an already outdated 05 VIII, then you would have never started this thread, because it's a no-brainer.

I would DEF get the 8. If you want a 9, I would wait until the 2nd year of it. Not smart to buy a new car that will prolly have recalls and problems that they will fix in the next year. Im sure with this new engine, mods will be harder to achieve, not to mention no one will have tuning software for a while. On the other hand, the evo9 is suppose to be pretty badass, I saw where fifth gear got it to run a 4.2 0-60 which is smoking alot of modded evo 8's. 8 will be cheaper but its your call, just my opinions.

It's a new car but not a new design(model). What is different other then mivec? (that's a rhetorical question)

Good point

Plus the USDM Evo IX will be temperd down the the JDM version. Plus I wouldn't bet on mods and programing software for at least 3-6 months after it's released. And if you do Mod it, the likely hood that there will be a recall on the engine of some sort is a sure bet. Trust me the will not do any recalls on your Evo if it has mods. Just something to think about.

Apart from MIVEC, what technology is the IX touting that's going to make it any less reliable than the current VIII. If we were talking about the Evo X then I could see your point. Plus, CCC has just launched the FQ versions of the IX in the UK with remapped ECUs so I don't think is going to be a major hurdle for US tuners either.
