Corvette is like the evo in many ways, for instance they are both extremely well priced for their performance statistics. Evo's are the bomb, and this has been my dream car ever since I was 18 (Im 23 now), so for me the EVO is a dream come true, but the Vette is an American Muscle car with awesome stats, and tons of cool features, inside and out. Nothin like cruisin with the top down..... either car is an A+ in my book.

What is the issue with 65 y/o guys driving a 'vette? Are all guys who have "made it" to be relegated to Toyota Avalons? Paul Newman is 80 and until a couple of years ago he could have opened a major can of whoop a$$ on 90% of the younger guys. That said there is nothing to compare between these two cars. Might as well ask "what should I get an Enzo or a Acura TSX." (Or for that matter a Miata or a Bentley).

However everone answerts this thread you need to decide what YOU want in a car. If you pick a car based on what people say on this forum you might very well end up unhappy. After all, who are you buying a car for?
RAW
Same here, I went to see the C6 and there is a bunch of things that I did not like, the rear reverse light are ugly as hell, the gap between the rear tires and the wheel arc is simply ridiculous(about 4").

As far is the performance, an 05 EVO MR, RS or GSR with a TB and MBC should take the vette (not by much).

I did an inquiry on the new Vette back in September 04, the car base price base model was nearly $44000, then add small things like transportation, registratio fee and taxes and you are in the $48000(that is not including options).

The new EvoIX seen like a better alternative. I got my 05 MR for just under $37000 out of the door and I never look back(I was ablre to waved a good chunk of money on lieu tax excemption because I am in the military and claim taxes from out of state )

If you really really want a killer performer for a much reasonable price get yourself 04 z06(405hp), they have killer braking power, outstanding suspension, great tires, great power throught out the power band, well equiped etc, etc. I almost bought a used 04 Z06

Both are great cars..it all depends on what your purpose is. Vette definetly rules with the chicks though.

Are we talking about the C6 Vette or C6 z06 Vette? If it's the z06 then hands down vette, even if they had a hard top C6 I'd get that.... Just remember it will proably leak something after 35K miles.... My dad's C5 does tranny fluid. LOL I'm not saying they all do but I thought jsut for ****s and giggles. Then again if you can afford to TT a vette more power to ya!

You haven't said what you want to do with your car, so here are two more choices: Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang and the BMW Z4 M (333hp M3 engine)

I would buy a EVO and slap a turbo kit and use the rest of the money for whatever.

A EVO will not touch a C6 vette in any category except autocross and packing more people. It's not even worth debating stock vs stock modded is a totally different story.

Think about this from a financial standpoint. The C6 will outhandle, outbrake, better topspeed, better acceleration, and for most of North America alot more prestige. While the import people will say cool a EVO most people will think "Youngster" "Mitsubishi...what?"...etc etc.

MTI and Vette Doctors have already produce 11.20@127mph timeslips from a air filter, exhaust, and 125 shot that's less than 2k in the car. You can easily take it off or pay someone too and still have good resale value.

If you try to mod a EVO to outbrake, outhandle, you can give up on the better top speed without TRE's drag gears, out accel a the above modded C6, but for the 15-20K you will spend you might get half of that in resale. Not to mention your spending hard cold cash or worse using credit to mod the car and paying interest.

All logical thoughts say C6 all the way, but it wouldn't be any fun if we all liked the same thing now would it. I would go with the EVO personall just because I'm a Ford guy not a Chevy. If you say 06' Cobra or 06' EVO.....06' cobra ALL THE WAY!!

Jasil I'm trying not to hate on you, but you really need to stop the negative vibe. You may not be a true troll, but sometimes dawg, I just don't know about you.

First off- Your talking about an EVO VIII, and this guy is considering an EVO IX which should be even faster.

Second off- Your wrong about the brakes, the EVO VIII does out brake the C6 Vette, and I have no doubt that the EVO IX will have the same or better braking abilities. You forget or simply didn't even know (shame on you if your spreading stuff you haven't researched) that the EVO has some of the best brakes on a production car.

Third- Handling, now that's up in the air, because the EVO VIII is an awesome handling car, and it's more than just skidpad numbers (I certainly hope you understand that). Not taking anything away from the C6 Vette, but don't underestimate the EVO. Now a Z06 is a different story, but were not talking about a Z06 are we?

Fourth- Your saying it takes $15-20K to beat a stock C6 Vette, get the f*ck out here dude, your clearly a troll and not hear to learn sh*t about the EVO. Your just hear to spread negative unfactual BS. The C6 stock is a 12.6-12.7@112-114MPH car, Warrtalon with $900 in mods recently ran 12.2@110MPH.

Fifth- Wrong forum to talk about NOS. Nitrous is not big in the EVO community, and telling us that a car ran low 11s with a 125 Shot, impresses no one.

If money is no object, get both and mod them to the max.

I love both of mine, Evo is still more agile.
Can't beat the TQ of a blown big cube motor though.

Can't go wrong either way. If you plan on tracking the car, I'd check to see if the C6 has the same oil starvation issues that the old C5's did. I've seen a couple Z06's blow up on the track. I think they fixed it with the current models. The Evo is far more practical though, nothing like blowing by porsches on the track with four helmets in the car...
