New or Used Evo???

Just wanted to get some opinions on this...

With the info I just read that they are offering 0% on 2005 evo's I am trying to figure out what the better deal is. A new 2005 GSR w/o SSL or a low mileage 2003. I would be looking at about $100-120 a month difference in car payment.

2005 Pros:
ACD
Front LSD
Brand new, never been beat on
Hopefully can pick my color (Weightless White)

2005 Cons:
More $$$
No HIDs

2003 Pros:
Less $$$
HIDs

2003 Cons:
Could have been beat on
No ACD or Front LSD
Getting Weightless White may be more difficult

What do you guys think?

Thanks,

Ron

Up to you, but if i could do it again and had no worries about the payment concern... well i'd pck the 05 for sure. The 05 has one PRO you forgot to add. It has the 10.5 hotside giving it a HP advantage for top end. Also the extra pros' you added are enough for me if i didnt have my 03 already. The ACD is awesome for sure.. and its brand new and not beat on. My 03 was used at 18,000 miles but i needed a clutch like 3,000 miles later.. i hardly had my first oil change.. Not to say i wsnt gonna change it, but i HAD to do it when i was unprepared..

My 2 thoughts for ya Hope it helps!

yes, get a brand new 2005 evo for sure. It's peace of mind knowing that only you will beat on it and only you will know how to take care of it. follow your heart, you know you wanna wake up and drive the 05

Get the 05 if you can afford it, you'll know what has happened to the car instead of wondering what happened with the previous owner.

It all depends on how comfortable are you with a possibility of some hassles down the road if you buy a used one. As for me, I would buy new.

I looked into buying an 03 with 20K miles for $23K. It needed a new clutch and rotors, which the dealer siad he would install FOC. In the end I went for a new one as the last used sports car I had kept breaking. You wont have to worry about if it was beat on or modded b4 u got it.

Although if you plan to do serious perf mods, your warrenty wont cover them, go for the used one.

The biggest problem with a new evo (other than paying for it) is keeping your foot on the gas lightly for the first 600 miles

I would get a new one. Don't have to worry about what type of abuse a used one went through.

Thanks for all the responses guys! Sounds like everyone is in consensus to go with new. The payment isn't a big deal I just hate payments in general so the smaller the better. I will use it for track days so the ACD and the Front LSD are big for me. Forgot about the 10.5 hotside (thanks 4rcd6) that will save me about $300 (3 payments) and some busted knuckles.

Well if you could find someone like me.. who has a 2004 with 2500 miles on it.. always clean, waxed, pampered, garaged and not abused... then I would say a used one.

But unfortunately mine is not for sale.. and I imagine others who treat their cars like I do are not selling them.

My advice, is new.. or if you can get a used one in good shape (with no mods).. then go that route.

People think that a modded car is worth more.. but frankly my rule of thumb is you 'subtract' the cost of the mods. You take a $30k car with $8k in mods.. it becomes a $22k car.

You need to slightly re-phrase the 2003 Cons:
WILL HAVE BEEN BEAT ON
...and...
may have been modded by a dumba$$
...or...
may have been modded and then returned to "stock" by said dumba$$

I'd most definitely go with a new one.
