Build Your Dream EVO
Okay, I'm sure am going to regret this. Now is your chance to be heard. Speak up because i'm listening.
You have a white sheet of paper. The sky is the limited.
Tell me your vision of how EVO should evolve?

Honestly, I say:
Mark
- Reduce the weight as much as possible
- Addition of a front LSD and ACD
- Slight increases in hp and tq
- Improve steering feedback
- Increase the price no more than $1,000

Mark
Nice to hear from you again.
Option 1:
Galant VR4 engine twin turbo small hi rev 6cyl.
Cons: too front heavy?
Option 2:
4G93 turbo charged 2.4L Twin scroll
Option 3:
Keep the 4G63 but stroke it to a 2.4 L to pass emissions with 300+hp
GDI system that works in the U.S?
My view is to have an optional more powerful engine. Lets face it. We live in America and that is why most are buying STi no matter how stupid that sounds.
Keep everything on current setup-brembos,recaro and etc.. but make Front LSD standrad.
Of course make these optional:
ACD
AYC
Auto dim mirrors and cruse control
JDM seating for smaller people.
6-speed tranny
Perhaps call it a ralliart package on evo or something of the sort.
One extreme version to blow subaru out of the water and one lower to keep cost down.
Why not an RS version with no radio, AC, no brembos to cut cost for those younger crowd who are willing to compromise. The whole purpose of the RS is special order only and compeditivly priced at 24K to blow wrx out of water
PS could you check allocations? I'm sort of in a pickle right now not knowing if my car arrived at my dealership and debating on booking a flight.

I'd like to see better instrumentation such as a boost gage standard on the car... in The instrument cluster.. I'd like to see the HVAC Controls moved into the map pocket, and the area where the radio occupies (would now be a double din) be used for a radio/navigation system combo (touch screen) similar to the BMW.. (actually I was planning on doing those things to my EVO8 when its delivered)
I plan on driving the car Cross country, so a navigation system would help me out alot.. Many hardcore drivers wouldn't be interested in that..
Hmm.. Another option would be a dual mode ECU, with a standard perf, high performance switch (possibly keyed like the ZR-1 was).. one with 270hp, the other with 300+hp (Tuner setting)
Definitely an LSD in the front.. I don't see much use in an ACD or AYC for most driving situations..
and get rid of the blue panels in the seating surfaces.. All black, or a black black/gray combo..

I know
's evo IX will be lighter. Perhaps a colt/lancer hybred platform much lighter but more power and less weight is the key. That's what most people here want but the average Joe want the car to look awesome too and lets face it hatchback aren't cool here unless they are in a shape of a 350Z or corvette (F-Body) (clue).
The bottom like is we want performance and the public wants style.
Another stupid thougth is that ppl are buying STi's because they like the interior better? Only in america.

We all know the next redesign of the Lancer (Colt) will also be shared by the Neon.. I really hope that they don't choose any of those hideous design studies, they are way too ricey.. It would be cool to see an AWD option available in the entire Lancer line.. with the turbo motor an option, and a supercar configuration specifically for the EVO..
Improvements to the car's interior would be welcome. I'm pretty sure improvements in interior will help sales after most of the hardcore fans of the Evolution have bought them. I'm certain most people other people like us would be more concerned about a better interior if the car is going to go for $28k.
Here is my list:
1. 305hp/305ft/lb torque stock.
2. The state of the art drive train missing in action here.
3. Cruise control (sorry but I like it)
4. 6 Speed transmission
5. A clutch that balances longevity with power delivery.
6. All gouging dealers are used as surrogates on Fear Factor for the "eat a horses rectum" stunt.
7. EVO 7 tail-lights
8. end of list

The dream Evo should have an aggressive design with lighter weight, more power (2.4L with 300+hp), addition of a front LSD and ACD, 300hp, perhaps the 6spd once tests show that its just as bulletproof, cruise control, get rid of those ricey taillights, basically all the design cues that made the evo6 the best looking one, better weight distribution, and anything else that comes in my head
1) The Galant VR-4 engine (2.5L, 6 Cylinder, twin turbo) with GDI. This was said above, but also with MIVEC. I think that engine had two same sized turbos that acted together giving good response but less higher rpm power. Maybe one small and one large turbo should be considered to keep the higher rpm power that the Evolution has now. Target 320BHP or more
2) I think the Evolution could go to 2 doors but keep the 4 seats (with similar leg room). Mainly because it looks sportier and reduces weight. Obviously this is going away from the traditional Lancer Evolution and taking away some of it's usefulness which is a bad point.
3) Higher quality interior helped with the inclusion of the LCD screen for navigation/radio/DVD etc. as mentioned above. Maybe it could be used for extra instruments as in the Skyline R34 GTR (and mayb previous models?). I know this isn't what the lancer is about but even a slight increase to bring it up to the STI level would be enough. At the moment it looks like things are missing or have been added on after it was built (like the radio).
4) Sell it in every country they can at the cheapest price they can and take back the market from the STI.
5) Maybe they should just bring back the GTO?
