VW's have something similar. It's to straighten the airflow approaching the throttle body so the MAF can get an accurate reading.

 

Its possible that the honeycomb is a silencer too.. I can already see where improvements are possible in there.. Oh, the electrical connectors, the Black one is the OBD-2 ISO diagnostic connector, the white connector next to it (If its not the dust shield for the black connector) looks like an accessory connector, but I have no idea what it is.

 

I think that Ralliart brake ducts are Carbon Fiber.

 

There is another peice that fits to the a-arms to complete the brake guide kit that is not included stock. It takes the air from the ducts you see now and brings it right up next to the caliper.

No, due to the size of the front brakes. Yes, you'll have to change 2 tires if you get a flat in the front. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

 

Weird that you would have to change two tires....you would think they would have planned for that for you.

 

One car does not fit

 

They did plan for it. Steel wheel spares just won't fit over big *** performance brakes so they put something in the manual to inform you of this fact so you'll know the spare only fits on back. No better way to prepare than know what is and isn't possible.

 

A lot of cars are that way. In the S2000 if you get a flat in the rear, you have to move a tire from the front to the rear and place the spare up front because the spare tire is smaller and having it in the rear would ruin the limited slip differential. I assume the diameter of the spare matches the rear tire on the Evo.

 

You assume correct. While not the exact same dimensions as the normal wheel, the diameter does match or is close enough that it's of little concern.

The ECU is under the hood near the battery? That is nice. It is located behind the cener console on a 1G DSM and a pain to get at.
