Idle hanging at 4k-3.5k rmps?

Just wondering what your guys thoughts on this might be. When I shift around 4000 rpms the it will jump up to about 4500 and then very slowly rev down to 3k rpms and then it will fall like it should. Anyone have any ideas? I just hooked up a bov and boost controller. But they are both set up the same way that they were on our 03. I just switched the stuff over to the 05.

thanks

This thread covers the throttle hang issue:

I had the same problem for the first two months of ownership, but the problem has completely gone now all by itself.

I think that it's your bov, boost controller. I just recently installed a MBC and now my car does this same thing. I switched out the bov for the stocker and it still does it, just to a lesser degree.

I'm gonna try to switch the hoses where the MBC gets it's vac from and see if it makes any difference. I have the mbc plumbed into the the bov now, and will hook it up to the turbo to see if that makes it go away.

I know it's not the clutch. 'Cause I used to have this happen without the mbc installed, but it only happened once in a while when the engine wasn't fully warmed up. And I thought it could've been the clutch.

But after the mbc installed it happens all the time now.

good luck

Funny thing, I have the same problem whenever I change my jdm mr to the greddy type s. It must be your bov! I have an 05 and my car hates the type s for some reason.

Your welcome I haven't heard of it hurting anything, but most people who have disabled it only do it at the track. I have read that it causes the car to go lean when putting the clutch back in which causes the RPM's to hang. I think there is a good chance that it will be fine once you plug it back in though. Easy enough to try anyway. If thats the fix, I would limit it to track days and not have it disconnected for normal driving to be on the conservative side.

Im also running the type s bov. I didnt have a single problem with it on the 03. We will see how it works on the 05, but so far so good.

On a side note its pretty funny while I was taking the boost controller lines off the 03 I noticed that I had lost my plug for the nipple on the hotside pipe from the turbo. Im sure that had to have been quite a bit of a boost leak. No wonder the turbo seem soo much louder on the 03 than the 05. Amazingly it didnt seem to hurt the performance of the car one bit, I just took it to the track last week and it still turned a 113.5 mph. Maybe I should just leave that nipple open on the 05 too It would want to die every once in a while when you would pull up to a stop and push in the clutch real quick. But I guess vacume/boost leaks will do that.

Good to hear. I would hate to see you or anyone go through all that work especially digging into the clutch!
