2005 MR ECU wiring with factory splices!
2005 MR ECU wiring with factory splices!
I was installing my Apexi Turbo timer in the MR last night. I needed to hook up to the factory front O2 sensor and a ECU ground. After getting to the wiring harness, the harness seemed not to be perfectly organized like the 2003 Evo that I had. In the one harness which is closest to the center driver side of the car. There were several wires that had been wrapped with electrical tape. They appeared to be the front and rear O2 sensor wires and a few others.
Have any other MR owners or 05 owners found factory splices or rewiring similiar to this?
Also, I found out when hooking up to the pockerlogger, the 05 has another parameter that wasnt on the 2003 model. It has a reading for Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. It is reading the MAP sensor on the car. I logged this sensor under WOT, and found out it maxes out at 123 KPA absolute. It appears to max out at around 3 to 4 psi. This is approximately when the ECU goes into Open loop fuel mapping.
I am wondering it this sensor isnt used somehow in the idle down circuit to keep the car from stalling out. It appears that the 05 models are more friendly to VTA BOVs.
I dont recommend runing VTA, but I was wondering if this is the reason why the 05 cars arent bothered as much when coming off idle when running VTA. Just a thought.

i put the apexi turbo timer on my mr and it was easy i used a greddy harness and the only thing i had to splice kinda was the O2 in the ECU area let me see if i can find some pics
this was all i could find so far but the O2 wire went to the ECU located near the glove box
i also found the post i followed wheni put mine on he took down the pics but the description is still there hope this helps

I didnt have trouble installing it. I was just wondering if other peoples stock ECU harness had some wires that had splices in them and the wires were not perfectly "untangled". My 2003 Evo had a wire harness with no factory splices or electrical tape. The new 2005 had a couple of spliced wires with electical tape near where it enters the wire loom on the factory ECU harness. It kind of looks like they made a mistake wiring the harness and had to switch some wires.
