GT35R will spool wayyyy slower than the stock turbo. You will need high octane gas or some type of injection to run 24psi. If you don't ever go above 24psi and do the head studs, your motor would probably last for quite some time with proper tuning and fuel. If you are looking to keep your spool up, go for the 20G, cams, and injection.

24psi on stock turbo?? would i be askin for trouble?

I know there are smaller turbos that wouuld do just fine, but if im gonna spend the money on a turbo, and for a few dollors more, I was thinking gt35, or no turbo at all!!!

I dont have to make 600 whp, but i do have to have the better of the turbos...

I guess the most important thing im wanting to know is, what would be a good setup using gt35 with the least amount of constant tuning.. has anyone done this with a custom tune from AL? and can the 4g handle 24 all day and what oct would be needed to maintain it safley?

tia
Man, you are completely whacked out with this line of thinking. The GT35R is one of the SLOWEST SPOOLING mainstream turbos for the Evo. Where in the world did you get the idea that it was FASTER spooling? The stock turbo is the fastest spooling turbo possible without going SMALLER. Yes, of course, 24psi is fine on the stock turbo with the proper octane or alky injection. You obviously have not done ANY research on this whatsoever.

There is no good, simple setup for a GT35...you said you aren't even wanting to do cams, so why in hell would you get a huge turbo that requires tons of supporting mods and standalone engine management along with lots of very difficult self-tuning? What is a 4g? Are you referring to the Evo as a 4g DSM? The Evo is an Evo, not an Eclipse. Maybe I'm missing something here, so let me know.

If so, there are several engines that start with 4G, not just the 4G63...

It's not that simple, It takes alot of effort and $$$ to make a GT35 run properly.
It's not just a simple plug and play bolt-on.

By asking a question like you did, it makes you sound like you know
absolutely nothing about Evos.

You need to research and take smaller steps and start with the basics.

hey bud, here's some good info for ya! i'm not an expert but here's the basic's!!! i'm currently running a gt35r setup. with the list of upgrade's you listed, the 35r will not run like you want it too. 1st off the 35r is designed to be run at high boost.. i'm currently running 27-28psi and the turbo isn't even in it's happy zone yet. also the 35r is ment to be revved high! my rev limiter is set at 8500rpm and with decent boost the turbo is just starting to get fun then i gotta shift.=( with no cams or headwork, ecu and no way uping your rev limit, your only gonna see 2000 or so rpms of full boost with stock rev limit!! this would not be good. with a 35r you can expect full boost around 4000rpm's or so...so in 1st you'll see some lag! the good thing about the 35r is that as soon as you shift the turbo is right back on top of you again! but this requires good shifting and clutch!! you'll also need lot's of fuel, cams, new exhaust manifold, clutch, and to tune properly and take advantage of the setup, you need a aem standalone(or piggyback) with a list of other mods as well....

i would definetly do your homework and start pinching pennys if you want to get a 35r setup and have it run properly...good luck!

Ok, do you even know what a GT35R is? Having a GT35R eliminates all "crazy, simple, and little maintenance/tuning" aspects from your car.

EDIT: I get it, this is a gimmick account.

why do you have a set boost pressure that you want to run instead of normal goals for the car, like power output or times or anything? i'm guessing you want the gt35r and the high boost pressure for bragging rights, just so you can say you have it, not because it is properly suited for your car, right?

if you don't have a tbe yet, i'd guess your car is stock? if so, i'd say do the tbe, get a boost controller and a reflash, then see if your'e happy with your car. no, you won't be able to brag about your super duper turbo or huge boost pressures, but your car will be fun to drive

No i really dont car what anyone thinks of my PAID off car or what turbo i run,
most people will fail to read yet ready to pop off the lip with flames!!!!!!!!!

If im gonna buy a turbo, whitch most would say WHY, i might as well get the bang for the buck...for a few bucks more i could have the better of the turbos availible!!

does this make sence to all you hot shots that seem to know everything???

I would like to end this post, thanks to those who put some respect in you replys....
