Manual says to use Premium Unleaded

.....of a 98 rating or better!!!!!
Was just perusing my manual and was checking out the octane requirements. The manual actually says to use 98 RON for the Evo. I hope RON is like the equivalent of 91 Octane here in Cali. Otherwise performance may be reduced. Damn, 98 to 91 is a big difference. I bet that's why Vishnu is getting his low numbers on the dyno. Street gas just don't cut it for this beast.

98 RON? That's like 93 for us!

We use (RON + MON)/2 (edit, since people want to be specific ) in America, which means we have lower octance numbers for the same fuel. I'm not sure exactly what 98 RON is equal to, however. 93, I think - too bad you live in the land of lame-o fuel

Just use the highest you can use for the car. Ever now and then (when you feel like it or if you are racing) throw in a bottle of octane booster.

Actually, it's RON+MON/2.

Yup, I got my symbols mixed.

It's (RON+MON)/2, meaning you take the average of the two.

This is correct, it is the average of the two. I was just being lazy in typing it out

I can only seem to find some 93 octane out here. Anyone in the Wisconsin area find some better?

here in the san fernando valley (L.A) there are lots of 100 pump gas stations (one that I used to go to)

back then it was $4/gallon!
