I have a leak...

Hey all,

I noticed some black sludge in my garage, and sure enough, I looked under the car and there is more of it all over the spare tire well and the muffler. My Evo has 500 miles on it. Anybody have any ideas? I'm calling Mitsu today for an appointment, but wanted some heads up if anyone knows. Thanks.

Is it oil? or tar that they put under to keep the bottom from rusting during shipping to US? Just wondering.

its black and gummy if you heat the car up enough and just put it in the garage it gets soft.

Mitsu puts some kind of anti corrosive tar on on the bottle of the evos frame, just take a look under there or reach under and feel it. Check and see if its the same stuff thats one your floor.

Geez, Krafty, I almost threw up on my keyboard! I don't know anything about turbos, and I believed you!
Thanks for all the replies. It is very tar-like and gummy once it dries, but it really looks rather liquid on the muffler. I guess the heat just made it liquify. I reached under the car and got it all over my hand. It's definitely the same muck on my garage floor. Should I even bother taking it to Mitsu?
