Evo in NC, crappy dealer practices

Well I got a call today from my dealer saying they had a black one on Saturday. I went out this morning to take a look. I called him and he said to come on out.

I get there 30 minutes later and I track down the salesman. He starts looking for the Evo and says "Oh, the managers have it out right now, you got here quicker than I thought you would". So after a minute or two, they roll up in it. My first thoughts were "Dayum, it looks so much sweeter in person". Well they pull under the covered area and get out and obviously they were not expecting any customers yet. They were a little shocked to see me. Well before I was 30 ft from it, I could SMELL the clutch as if they just kicked the **** out of it. They had four of them in the car and I'm sure they all were getting a "taste". You could tell they were unconfortable with a potential buyer present when they all got out. They were definitly "joy" riding. I was pissed. I thought that was soooooo ****ty. Luckily I'm not getting black, but I am paranoid now. Before my Silver arrives, I am going to put it the contract that I have to be present when they pull it off the truck. It sounds crazy, but after my experience this morning, I think I have a right to be.

They still had to "inspect it" apparently, but I guess it was good enough for them to drive it like a bat out of hell. So they parked it and I finally got a chance to sit in it. When I first walked up, I put my hand over the outlet of the hood and it was hot as crap just as I suspected. The turbo was definitly getting "worked" and it still smelled. Did any of you guys with Evos now notice a "break in" kind of smell? Or is that smell only from driving it hard?

Well without actually driving it, everthing was pretty much perfect. The only thing that bothered me was the length of the throw. Wow, a short shift kit will definitly enhance the driving characteristics of this car. The other thing I got to check out is the baby seat attachments in the rear seat. However, I don't have any kids but they make the perfect place to clip a 5 point harness for track events. I think they were put there for a harness and happens to work for a child restraint too .

Well everything else was as expected, "INCREDIBLE". I can't wait to get mine. Anyone in the market for an S2000? Check here !

I am not too worried about somone beating on my car right off the bat. There are different theories there.... some folks drive hard from the get go and others drive easy first.....

Either way it will have a warranty and probably run the same after 600 miles anyway....so what the hell.......

Of course as I am standing over my own boiling hot EVO with 4 dip****s just jumping out of it, I will probably be pissed.

Did they park the Evo and shut it off immediately? Was there any cool-down time? I'd be upset if they drove my Evo like that before I took delivery.

I just hope your engine does not prematurly burn/consume oil at low milage. I disagree, the first 20 miles should be taken very easy. How many miles does it have?

The engine does smell for about 250miles or more.

When they all got out, it was still idling. Then another guy hopped in and drove it around back. By the time I walked over there, which was probably no more than a minute or two, it was off. I doubt the guy knew to idle the car. The dealers are idiots. They know ABSOLUTLY nothing about this car except for the fact that people are paying over MSRP on eBay so that must mean they can mark it up too.

they all went to training, so i would think they know more than we give them credit for. My dealer was reading off the spec sheet, but he did read a fair amount.... he knew about the spray switch, "spun" wheels, tires that will suck in the snow, etc.....

Of course that doesn't mean he wouldn't go beat the **** out of my car, given the chance.
