stock 05' dyno'd 271whp.
I just got back from getting my car dyno'd. My numbers seem way too good to be true, I've heard of factory freaks before but I always just figured they were just a myth, kinda like unicorns. Anyways it did 271 whp and 274 tq... The car is a bone stock 05' with 10k miles. I know your probally thinking I misread something and I did too when I first say the numbers. So I started asking the guy running the dyno and he said that the dyno was reading correctly and it was right. The pulls were done in third gear, I though this would make a difference so I asked about that too and he pulled up another dyno chart of another 05' with an exhaust and a mbc doing a third gear pull, it dyno'd at 266whp. I just want to get some opinions, has anyone else had this happen? Could my car just be a ringer or is something wrong? I mean this car is making 30 more whp than its suppose to thats a lot, there has to be an explanation somewhere?
Just some history about the car, this car is much faster than my 04', it is very noticable, I figured it was just cause it was an 05'. I raced an 05' sti when my car was new I couldn't launch my evo and it still had no problem hanging with the sti and I could pull him from 60-110mph. The I took it drag racing in August (in was pretty hot) in Phoenix. I bogged my launch and goofed up on my 3-4 shift and it ran 14.01@101mph. with a 2.3 60ft time. The same sti now with an intake and a reflash was doing 13.4@99mph, with a 1.7 60ft time. with a decent driver. We had the sti dyno'd that weekend and it did 265whp on the same dynojet that I had mine dyno'd on. Do the numbers add up? Could it really be putting down 271?

The attatched file is of my 4th pull, it was 268whp, I will get the 271whp pull on my computer in a day or two, they forgot to email me my 5th pull graph. so I'll call on monday.

you do have good numbers, be happy. My 04 with tbe/flash/mbc dynod 293 in 4th and 318 in third so go figure. It does put a bigger load on the engine running to 120mph rather than 80mph. I would like to see what my 06 does stock. Topspeed will be dyno'ing it stock and then doing an ecutek flash. I will post my numbers once my car is broken in. If you do get it dyno'd again in 4th make sure and tell them not to start from 1500rpm as it is REALLY hard on the clutch. Floor it around 2400+.
Dyno's......almost every single one will provide a different reading.
They are really only good for comparing baseline to mods.....and oh yea for tuning.
Congrats on the good number but the true sign of power is your 1/4 mile speed.

It sounds fishy, but who knows? The main problem here is that you not only dyno'd 271whp stock, but you did it in hot Arizona on 91oct at no less than 1000' elevation, unless I'm mistaken. A 101 trap speed only indicates 210-220whp, but of course you screwed up everything during the run. You should go back and see if you can hit 106-107mph, because that would validate the dyno. The fact that your buddy's STi dyno'd 265whp and only hit 99mph means that Dyno has a big, fat conversion factor to account for your altitude/temp/octane or whatever else...
