Well my clutch is done and now after an hour of reading I have narrowed don my options to the RPS single disk set up, the ACT HD, and the ACT Extreme kit. Can you guys please shed some light on these kits from personal experiences and tell me about drivability, endurance, and overall feel. I am ordering this today so I would like some input from people that have already gone through this whole ordeal. And DAMN the labor is expensive for this job. Thanx in advance.
Results below are with an ACD HDSS. 50+ launches, 1.6x 60's, stock-like driveability, no chatter, no rattling, easy engagement. Just have to remember to adjust the clutch pedal after installation to avoid the 7k lockout. I've given much more detailed reviews in several other threads, so I don't feel like typing it all out again.

I'm curious about this as well. I'm looking for more of "spirited driving"/AutoX clutch. I don't have a 1/4 track in my area and don't ever plan on going much more than 400whp. Any ideas?
Well I ordered the ED from LogicPerformance. Basically the its the HD disk with a stronger pressure plate so it can handle more power but without the harsh engagement of a 6 puck. I know theres an ACT rep lurking on the boards from time to time maybe he'll chime in because from what I understand this is a new product from ACT. I've actually driven a buddies Evo with the HD setup with a 6 puck and even that wasn't really that bad and pedal feel was not extreme either. I guess I'll order the SS line to go with the new clutch.
I just drove another Evo with the single disk RPS set up and it was almost stock feeling pretty nice but, the ACT just seems like a better dollar for dollar deal.

If you are making less than 500 ft. lbs. of torque, I'd stick with the full face organic single disc clutches. They will act similar to the stock clutch from a driveability perspective, but will also have a higher peddle pressure. If you go with a puck style clutch, ceramettalic, multi-disc clutch etc., you will give up some driveablilty, gain clutch chatter, gain noise, gain harsh engagement.... Best bet, if you are less than 500 ft. lbs. of torque (i.e. stock turbo), the ACT HDSS is a very good clutch, cheap, quite capable, and the closest thing to stock driveability that you will get.
I think you guys covered it pretty good. Just for old times sake here is a link to a clutch poll to see what others think: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=126768
Just thought I would add that we now finally have our flywheels out too.
Two weights 13.1 and 10.1 lbs. Both are one piece forged chrome-moly and thicker than stock for better durability, blah, blah, blah. Sorry for the pitch.

Dirk, per our long phone conversation way back when, I thought you made a comment related to lightweight flywheels putting more stress on your clutches. Did I hear you wrong, or is there more to the story that I just don't fully understand? I'd be interested to hear unless you've already given a long explanation elsewhere on here. Just point me to it, if so...
I have a ACT and love it, id never spend the extra money on a Exedy twin disc. My buddy has it in his. and jesus. i couldnt deal My act does chatter sometimes. and make wierd noises. nothing that i worry about though, but i think thats just the EVO in general . I never had the lockout issue either. i was paranoid about that happening. But i feel very comfortable with this clutch and holy crap doesnt it grab when it wants too. I have launched it pretty hard a few times. and never worried about it. Car always does what it is supposed to do.
I love it and plan on buying another when the time comes. if it ever does.
