Need your advise on my misfortune

So, I've been hit by a drunk and have made a claim aginst his insurance, Statefarm. He's been chared with hit & run, DUI, collision but I don't know how long my claim will take to process. But in the meanwhile, I 'd to start planning the fix or upgrade to the damaged parts as seen below.

Visually, the damaged parts include the front bumper, left fender, lower lip and the left headlight housing ( hid bulb flicking too).

Please feel free to advise, I'd like to upgrade her looks...

I'm not an expert with Insurance but try to get as much money as you can from this and put it towards upgrades.

Iono if this is rite but if you try to get your insurance to pick up the repairs they're only allowed to replace with OEM.

In the case of the headlight unit that wouldnt be too bad unless you wantd some MRs. ;p

good luck.

look around the show & shine forums..theres a lot of pix of evos with aftermarket body kits

i wouldnt expect to see your baby fixed in a hurry...this may vary from insurance companies but the claim processes take a while...

Try hitting that with some polishing compound, see if it will come off, it will probably for the most part come off.

That's not that bad at all, it'll be an easy fix. You'll have to deal with an estimator from statefarm, a body shop will probably get more money than you can so have them deal with the estimator.

Fastest way Ive found to deal with Insurance companies.

1) Realize thier lazy and will take forever if you let them.
2) Take it to several body shops and get written estimates
3) Call his insurance company and get ahold of the claim manager (guy in charge of your claim)
4) Tell him you have a quote on repairs and can fax it to him
5) Tell him that any funding will be directly to you
a) If he asks why tell him that you want to have final say of repairs before the body shop is paid
6) Fax Them the estimate
7) Thier adjuster will evaluate the estimate rather than your car, if he agrees for the most part they will simply issue you a check for the amount of the estimate.

Total time: 1-2 weeks....but the money is your hands and you can do with it as you please.

Edit: This will only work if the amount of damage is under $2000 (maximum deductable for most companies) your damage looks to be far below that...more than likely in the $900 range (im no body shop)

Use simple fixes to cover up the damage as much as you can AFTER you get your insurance check... then use the check to buy power mods... the faster you go, the less of a chance for anyone to notice the damages. It'd be what I'd personally do. =]

thanks for the quick responses. I was told by a bodyshop that the insurance would most likely call for repairs rather than replacing with new parts. But I should get some more estimates.

I was thinking of IX bumper w/ CF lip.

Do you guys think that bent fender can be carefully pulled out to original shape instead of bondo?

Remeber if you have a problem with his insurance, (doesn't sound like you are) you can always file with yours but you will have to pay your deductible up front. When all is said and done, you will get your deductible back when they collect from his. I would use their Insurance unless you have a problem. Don't forget about collecting Diminished Value (Value lossed from the accident), if your state allows.
