Congratulations on paying at least $8,000 more for your MR than I paid for my RS to gain 0.10 secs, if your numbers are right (which I doubt). I think I can beat you by a helluva lot by spending that $8K modding my RS.

Not to mention the fact that I have hit the ceiling going na, and all he has to do is get a TBE and a reflash and it would have been over. my choice has been brought down to the evolution, but I am not sure which one. I did some research, and I know that the 05+ is up on some power, but my price range isnt too high, so I have to watch out for a high sticker price. That brought me to the rs. I want to know what you guys think of it. How is it not having the sound deadening material, and is there a radio, or not. I can afford this car, but I want to make sure that it is livable at the same time. thanks guys, and it is nice to be a part of your forums
FYI, I saw that you are from Huntington Beach. I just traded my 03 Evo in for a new IX at South Coast Mitsubishi. If you go through Sam at SRT Motorsports you can get the new Evo IX RS for $25,999. It was a very painless process, actually I didn't even talk to a car salesman from the dealer, you just drive in, meet up with Sam and he takes care of everything for you. Also any work you have done on your new Evo at his shop is covered my South Coast because they know his work. I actually drove my new Evo off the lot, right across the street to where his shop is located and it was up on the lift getting a new Down pipe installed. LOL Less than a mile on the car and it's already up on the lift! You should check it out.

At the time the 04 RS was the only one with front LSD, so it was a no brainer for me. Get the RS then take the $$ you would have spent on a GSR and get flash, TBE and coilovers and you will have one crackin' car for the price of a GSR. That is what I did and I don't miss the ABS or power features one bit. My RS has the oh @#$! handles, did they take these away in 05?

It's funny how each individuals perspective can be so different. I'm looking to get an Evo this spring /summer (after a move) because I am wanting a nice new/newer car with a few more creatures comforts. Even the RS has more creature comforts than most of the daily drivers I have had.

Once I get my curent project back on the road I will probably drive it 60+ miles everyday until I get a new car for a daily driver. It's got ladder bars suspending a solid rear axle that replace IRS, a/w intercooler under the dash, Pectel T6 management, manually shift 3 speed auto, molded race seats, cage, no power steering, no a/c, might not have power brakes, expensive rare body parts from Europe I would hate to scratch, etc... Once the new car arrives, the old car will finally get crazy.

Lots of good info guys. Lots to think about.

Funny...if you read my Post, I own a GSR. Everyone has their own Differences. I just cant stand living without AC, Power Windows, Sunroof, Power Door Locks, etc...I would get the MR just because I like the title MR and the 6 speed, but Unfortunatly, they dont come with Sunroofs because of the Aluminum Roof...

Why do people always think that? The RS has air conditioning.

As far as the sunroof, I think most people who have an RS understand why it isn't offered. The RS is designed to be a track car where structural rigidigity is paramount for performance and safety. A giant hole in the cieling sorta makes the rest of the car pointless. It's like buying a parapalegic running shoes. As far as the other stuff, it can all be added down the road if you so choose...even the ABS/EBD.

Maybe you don't want to believe magazine tests, but to those of you saying you wouldn't get an RS for that one tenth of a second or who think the MR is faster, see the attached from Motor Trend.

Does the RS have an interior dome light or map lights? What about sun visors? Have any of you RS owners locked up your tires when braking hard? How was it in the snow (without the ABS)?

I know it doesn't have a trunk liner, but does it have something to cover the spare wheel so you can put luggage in the rear and not have it fall into the gap between the spare wheel and the trunk?

Yes there is a light when you open the doors, yes it has sunvisors, yes there is a carpet in the trunk.

As for the brakes...i'm still breaking mine in, no snow here in AL....from my experiance of driving ABS cars in the snow..ABS sucks in the snow
