March 31st, 2003. MMSA HQ trip returns
ok guys. Dropped by MMSA HQ around 12:30 noon time because I was around that area. Some intersting finds:
1) Yellow Lancer Evolution with LOW SPOILER. First time seeing the US-spec Evo without a high spoiler (actually the first Evo EVER without a high spoiler). It's the same one that OZ-Rally uses.
2) Blue Lancer Evolution with ALL LEATHER INTERIOR. Front recaros and rear seats are in the same design, but in 2 (or 3) tone leather. Seems like dark/medium/light grey interior. Looks VERY nice in leather.
3) About 8 EVOs total in the parking lot, and that's lunch time, with about 50% of cars left in there. The lot was 1/2 empty. Some Evos have Dealer "202" plates. Other have black "Mitsubishi" dealer paper thing.
4) THEY HAVE SECURITIES NOW! On golf carts! But he looked at me and kept going. Looking diplomatic in a shirt always works
5) A big car-carrying truck (transporting trailers?) with 5 SUVs on there. 2 Outlanders, 1 CRV, 1 Rav-4, and 1 Forester. I guess they're going to do some comparison or something. Maybe Motor Trend or someone else needs 1 SUV from each maker.
6) Before I left, 2 cars were drag-racing at a small street next to the parking lot. 1 silver Evo and 1 yellow OZ Rally
By the end of the short stretch (I think about 200 ft?) The Evo was already ahead by many cars. The Evo then took a very fast right turn out to the big street, with the OZ-rally in the back following, almost flipped over while trying to match the Evo's speed
too bad my digital camera is in for repairs now. When I get it back next week I'll try to take some pics of the Leather Evo and the low spoiler Evos (I think those belong to employees)

I'm assuming that the leather is an aftermarket custom job. Irvine Subaru offers leather interior on WRXs for 1000 dollars, which includes 2-tone perforated leather seats and door inserts.
As for GT-As, I think all those Evos are US-spec 5-speed manuals. I don't have time to get out of my car and check every single one of them
but I was parked at one time right next to the blue Evo with leather.
