this is a friends evo .. and he got some problems with his evo ...
here is what he said in another forum

"Well Guys I was Driveing my Evo...Not pushing it or anything Just babying it around...And i was turning on my Block and it Broke down....Like When i put it in Gear and move it the Rpms and the speed will go up but the car is in one spot....Some 1 said it was the clutch But i dont think soo i think its my Trans....And i was driveing on Broke Diffs or lsd Idk what was broken just something in the back was messed up......Plz Help thanks"

 

If the speedo shows velocity then the speedo gear is turning, so that would indicate the problem is likely after the transmission, most likely the center diff.

 

This happend once on my eclipse. Does it not move at all or does it move just a little? What happend to my eclipse was that the speedo would show much faster than I was going. You will also get kind of get a lag in acceleration. This happens when your clutch is done. Did he notice his clutch about to go? If it isn't like what I described than it is most likely his diff.

 

This sounds like a clutch problem. Did he recently have his clutch redone? If it is the stock clutch, how many miles are on it? Did he smelling anything funny when he tried to accelerate?

btw .. i think he once launched his car .. and broke something .. and the car started to make an odd noise ..
