Nonturbo Evo Power Output?

Yea I know that this may be stupid but I was curious about what the engine in the Evolution VIII/IX makes(horsepower/torque) before or without the turbo...If anyone has an idea or knows where I can find out please post it...

I think the closest thing you'll find is that the na 2.0 4g63 put out 135 rated hp in the 90-94 eclipse / talon / laser. source: http://members.shaw.ca/costall/1000Q/

why would you ever need this information?

all 'evolutions' have had turbos.

Oh really, sure that makes since(not) and I guess that the intake filter is to clean the air around the car and put out pure oxygen to help all the little animals that dont turn into road kill breathe I was just curious about the evo thats all but thanks for the sarcasm

Less then that due to the low compression pistons used for forced induction. It would probably be a dog as is with no turbo as it sits.

You might be able to do a coarse estimation using the fraction of pressure that the NA engine would see, since this would be a rough estimate of the fraction of air... 286hp*14.7psi/(14.7psi+20.0psi) ~ 120hp

I can see the next question coming on EVOM....what kind of hp would I get if I removed the turbo and had the engine built for high compression would the car be more reliable?

Sorry just having fun

in a word.. no. at least not if you want any significant power out of it. If you want N/A power with minimal displacement, look to honda.

I don't know if anyone remembers the Cordia, 2 door hatchback. This was my first Mitsu. I think it had the 4g63 engine in it. I know it was a 2.0 liter. The N/A engine had 88 HP. Not sure what the turbo version had.
