Lightbulb Cover The Hood Breather?

hi there, im from chicago and it rains alot, my car sometimes sits outside of the garage and then, BOOM thunderstorm hits since our hoods are open element so that the motor can breath and keep cool....but i get worried that water induction can occur, i dont have a stock air box, i want one lost mine due to little nephews playing in the garage and trowing it out into the recycle bin, so does anybody know of a company that makes a cover for just such times as snow/rain seasons? i think some if not most of us would b intrested in this. also i hate it when it rains alittle and damn my car looks like its overheating from the drops of rain hitting the turbo manifold/engine head and so on....the windshield gets all steamy and foggy...guys? whos in to getting someone to fabricate this product? just an idea

Just be careful in regards with the cover. Housedj's car caught on fire last year because he to hated the elements getting on the motor. Do a search and you will find it.

I think that was a case of him forgetting to remove the cover when driving...

seems like its not a problem...guess i was worried for nothing...oh btw...on another note, the paint is chipping on the outside grill and on the blades the cut outs on the black panel for the hood vent.....ummm what kinda paint should i use to repaint and avoid paint chips? i mean the actual vent is loosing its look..metal starting to shine through the paint

If you're worried about the rain, just take some measurements and order one of these in you favorite color.

You can remove the grate under the screen. Open your hood and you can see the large, round tops of what are basically screws. Use the Search utility here. There's a thread that does a step-by-step removal, repaint, and replace. Use paint for your grill you cook out on. I've done it once and it looks great. It's very easy and cheap also. So no big deal if you ever have to do it again. Some have used other colors but that's up to you. It seems black is just fine.

Good luck!
