Scared of my Insurance co. ADVICE PLEASE

Well, as some of you know, I had a little incident with my EVO. For those of you that dont...heres a reference...

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...highlight=deer

Anyway...i spoke to the dealer today and he came down with an estimate of anywhere between $7,000-$10,000 worth of damage. Which I find to be a little high, but i guess I really dont have much of a choice.

Well, previous to the estimate, I had originally planned to pay out of my pocket. Figuring Id have to cover a rim, rotor, control arm, tire, and maybe a bit of body work. But worth the cost, to keep my insurance low. Needless to say, after hearing his estimate I had no choice but to turn to my Insurance Co.

So I get on the phone and Im talking to the agent, shes asking what happened blah, blah, blah. I explain everything, and she asks the name of the street, and cross-street of where all this happened. Well, off the top of my head, I couldnt tell her, so she told me to get back to her. This is pretty much where my fear sets in.

Do the companies go out and investigate the scene of the acident? Because Im scared that, if in fact they do, they could be able to tell that I was speeding, and thus deny my claim?! Im not exactly sure on what insurance covers as far as the circumstances go, and whatnot. Im going tomorrow to get the street names and such, I guess Ill have to do a bit of investigating as well. But im not even sure I left skidmarks, or even any hint of an accident. I dont know..Im just very worried.

Any advice/insight would be much appreciated.

Nothing to worry about, they just need all the info for the claim form. Good luck.

nah i wouldnt worry about it....however; it all depends on insurance company. Some cheap companies will investigate and some wont.

This would be a comprehensive claim. I don't see why they would investigate the accident. You aren't liable to any other party. They are just verifying information. As far as speed you can't prove it, unless you have a witness saying that the car was going at a excessive amount of speed but then they can't prove how fast you were actually going.

Its a comp claim dude, I wouldn't worry about it.

This is the reason you have insurance. Since no other cars were involved, you are at fault so what are you afraid of them investigating? They aren't going to go check out the site unless you had some horrific multimillion dollar claim. Turn it in, make sure you find a *GOOD* shop to fix your car, and then hope your insurance doesn't go up too much. Nothing else you can do.

+1

You have nothing to worry about other than your premium going up. This happens to people all the time.

good luck

Ouch. What a bummer.

To be honest, you're car was better off hitting the curb than slamming into a deer or something bigger like an elk or moose. A deer would have probably totaled the car and put you in the hospital... or worse.... a dirt nap.

I took out a coyote at about 60mph years ago in Utah and it totally destroyed the front end of my Honda Accord. I couldn't imagine what a deer weighing 10x as much would have done. I've come close on two occasions to hitting a deer. Luckily they were misses.

I have made few claims through insurance company, they need those information to log a claim which is standard procedure. Accident is accident no matter who's fault, they still need to pay for your damage that's why you need insurance to cover accident.

7-10K is a lot to you, but to an insurance company it's nothing when they have to pay out millions on a 16 yo kid who just rear ened a shoolbus full of nuns on the way to the hospital.
