evo ix front bumper conversion question

I'm thinking of getting a ix bumper to replace my 8 front bumper.

Are the front grill pieces necessary? Will it look funny without them? Because they cost 170$ extra! Please give opinions

Thanks

$170..that may be for only 2 of them.(in front of IC & Where Emblem goes)
There are like 8 grills total - well over $200+

check Mike @ Forge's car...he dosen't have all the grills

So do I need the grill pieces?

For those who have done this, can I reuse any of the pieces from my evo viii bumper? So I only have to buy the pieces that hold the emblem and cover the fmic

I had a IX bumper and all the grills and sold it all.
There is a grill that goes over almsot every hole in that bumper...the 2 main ones require these metal Brackets that HOLD them to the bumper and the grill itself.

I also heard you have to buy new BLK plastic Oil Cooler Guides (that go inside the bumper where the cooleris) and the opp side supposedly.

There are 2 little grills that go over the little nostrils then the 2 side peices and the main Front 2.It was all VERY expensive so I decided to sell it all.

well The guy I sold mine to called back saying The Regular ones won't fit behind the bumper..or maybe they fit but just you gotta make em fit.

I would think you can make them work.

I just went through the process of what you are planning to do, the evo Ix front bumper is a direct bolt on to your evo VIII, however you will need to (if you want) place wire mesh on all the openings, wether you want to do it custom or go through mitsu is up to you. I wnt through mitsu and it cost $$$. If you are trying to make some of the evo VIII peices work for the evo IX FB they wont. I tried everything, oil cooler guides, etc. and nothing lines up. So good luck!

Good luck in getting the grilles if you want OEM. I in the middle of doing this right now, and most of that stuff is backordered.
