yes there is yellow in them...but put them next your normal plain jane halogens..... and get in the driver seat of both one after another and look out...you'll totally see the difference....there is white/blue light in the HID's, but yes there is also a yellow hue to them.

Compared to my other car, these lights are MUCH brighter and look MUCH bluer. I like them!

The HIDs in the EVO are much better then the headlights in my old WRX!

In all seriousness, I think they work very well.

My HIDs looks fine to me. Just compare with other cars without them while you're driving next to them or something.

Very true. The more yellow in a bulb the easier it is on your eyes. They're usually also lower temp bulbs and they have a tendency to last longer than HIDs with higher K ratings (i.e. blue and esp. purple beams).

From the 350z forum, their is an inverse relationship between the blueness of the lights and the lumens (brightness of the lights). The higher up the blue scale the lights get - the less luminescent they become. The trick is to balance between brightness and a reasonable level of blue.

Flaunting my newfound knowledge.

The OEM HID usually come with 4100k bulbs. For those interested @ getting more purplish color output, you can go with Philips Ultinon (6000k). I had that in my M5 and it look AWESOME. The bulbs are like $280 a pair and you can easily find them on the internet.

Someone in the M3 forum posted pics of the 4100k, 6000k and 8000k color output (too blue IMHO) .

I completely concur with the original statement. Though they are far less yellow than the average lights you see on the freeway, compared with other HID's, they do have a yellowish tint. When first turned on, they're blue as hell, but if you actually stand in front of the car and look at the lights for about 10 seconds, you can actually see them changing color from blue to white (slightly yellow).
