This is Evo General. 99% of us are NOT from South Carolina, and the 1% who might be probably don't know the exact laws for the county you live in. These laws can vary by county, so you should start by asking in the regional forum for your state, then go to the EvoSE forum and ask there.

Another thing you can do is look up your state laws by searching via Google. That's how I find the laws for the places I live, because then I can print it out and keep it with me if a cop tries to mess with me, and I know the law verbatim.

Wrong forum but here it goes

In SC there are no vehicle inspections or emmisions tests. And there are plenty of cars and trucks with open exhausts around.

Tint is legal, but it has a maximum for the drivers window.

As a general rule in SC, if it runs and isn't dropping parts on the highway (and isn't mega-ultra loud -- but people get away with a lot) it's okay. I think having a cat is a federal law, but there are plenty of folks around here that don't seem to worry about that.

S.C. is really relaxed as far as rules for cars go. you will most likely be able to get away with whatever you want to. My friend has limo tint on his mustang, when he got pulled over all the cop said was that his tint might not be safe at night.

CGs,
How long have you been in Chas. for? i dont think i have ever seen you before.

Yeah man, as long as they dont see actual particles coming out of your exhaust and your car runs, your legit.

SC rocks for emissions and related ****, but the "scene" here really bites... Only good shops are on the coast. Even my super loud open exhaust on my project Civic gets the cops attention, but never pulled over... (yet???). 28% tint is the legal limit. Anything else you need to know, you can PM me...

In regards to your question man as already posted, if it has wheels and runs you can drive it here basiclly. I dont have a cat and I have tinted windows. State law on tint is 35% on the front windows and the rears can be as dark as you want.

Yeah no inspection in SC is awesome. I'm originally from NJ and they are inspection ***** up there. Also there seems to be a couple different tint %s for the front two windows. I got my windows tinted a couple months ago and they had a map on the wall with every state and the legal window tint %. For south carolina it said 27% on the front 2 and i'm pretty sure on the back windows it doesnt matter.
