Smoked Clutch on Da IX ='s the GHEY!

I smoked the HECK out of my clutch, but it was WEIRD how it happened.

So I did try to launch it, but not like dropping it more like slippin it...anyways...when I did the rpms stuck around 7000rpm then I was like what??? Then I shifted to second the same thing but my foot was off the clutch

Now I'm I just paranoid, but it feels that the clutch is not that grabby in first gear? So should I change it now? Or wait until it really goes bad? Is it really bad? It's been a whole day and it still feels a little jerky when I take off out of 1st gear. I would just hate it if it affected my performance .

I have about 5000 miles on it no dragging. This sucks...BUT...like I said the rpms stayed at 7000rpm or was my foot on the clutch slightly...ah I can't remember

You smoked the **** outa it my friend. I did the same exact thing lol. It doesn't feel like it did before but it's still fine. I just took mine in to the dealership and adjusted my clutch pedal because it would shudder when engaging slowly after that incident. Now it's fine but I guess it's doesn't feel the same. Warped flywheel, burned clutch ? I don't know. Take it easy for the next couple days.

AHHHH! I hate myself for this...I wonder if I should adjust my clutch pedal too? Hmmm...so do you feel like you are losing power (as if the clutch is slipping)? Meh...I want to think positive...tell me you didn't feel like you are losing power

You smoked it. Won't be long now. As long as it is holding at high RPM's (and not revving faster then you are accelerating) it'll be okay for a while longer.

I did the same thing in my 05 the first time I launched it....and got 50+ low 12 second et's after that and 20,000 miles and several street races before it went. don't slip it....it will slip itself due to the restrictor pill......5-6000 rpm and dump. Some people say you will break driveline parts that way but I never have. I think as long as you have the restrictor pill you can dump it with a high rpm....depending on your level of mods. I was still stock turbo.

you have to be more observative!! when you realize you arent moving fast, and your RPMS are just staying at 7,000 something is wrong!! dont keep your foot planted on the gas, let off! sorry this happened but you probably glazed the clutch disk so it will slip now. depending on how bad it is you will lose power if its not holding 100%.

Below is Off topic story of some kid from my school, read if your bored only =)

believe it or not this kid that went to my highschool tried to do a smoke show in the rain in his 99 civic si, and he starts in 1st gear spinning shifts to 2nd, spins there.... from there it got ugly, a 3rd shift came and thats when the clutch started to go. he proceeded to shift to 4th, then 5th thinking well my RPM's are at 7k so i must be spinning the tires!!

If it shakes when your about to take off slowly, then ya, take it into the dealer and tell them to adjust your clutch pedal to make that go away. It helped greatly with mine. I don't exactly feel like I'm using power but I do feel like it does not grip the way it used to on hard upshifts. I don't know, maybe I'm just paranoid but it's just fine now. Like I said, just adjust the pedal and take it easy for a couple days bro.

anyone remember the SRT4 clutch burnout vid? silver neon stages and proceeds to burn the daylights out of his clutch for like 20 seconds?

That was an awesome vid... can't find it anymore.
