Greetings,

I am in the process of changing to an aftermarket exhaust system for my evo9..

I am opting and searching for the most silent, and thru the threads, i read the Greddy EvoII has been praised as well as the HKS Silent and some other ones..

My question though, is whether i should change the downpipe as well.. I remember reading a reply to some thread saying that an evo9 downpipe is already polished or thru some other way treated well enough, it doesnt need to be changed..

If you want more power, change it to a 3 in.

 

If your trying to keep it on the down low why would you get a d/p. Stick with stock

 

Its just as restritive as every other piece of your stock exhaust. Doesnt matter if its been polished or not.

 

Excatly! i dont wanna be changing the whole system and keep the stock d/p and get nowhere!

You're not going to gain much power anyway when going for a quiet cat-back. It's just a waste of time and money. Either get a real exhaust or don't bother and spend your money elsewhere. I don't know what you read about the IX DP, but it needs to be replaced just like any other part of your exahust. The most restrictive part, though, is the cat. A "silent" cat-back is only going to give you 7-10whp anyway for about $500-600.

 

If you want a silent exhaust get a megan racing system. I have a megan racing exhaust and testpipe with a t-pro downpipe and my evo is pretty quiet compraed to the other evo's with rre, busch, ect ect.

 

The Megan is by no means quiet. It is very, very loud with the non-chambered muffler and test pipe.

 

Purchase a exhaust system that has a SILENCER........cuts down noise and power

If you want more power with no noise skip the exhaust and get a ecutek flash or something similar. With just a flash, mbc, and drop in filter you will be around 295-310 whp with just as much or more wtq. I myself am going with the biggest and loudest free flowing exhaust possible, I'm getting the HPF 3.5'' goliath TBE. Go big or go home.

 

eh mine is pretty damn quiet compared to the ones I seen.

 

Then something must be wrong, because the MEgan is very loud and is known to be throughout the Evo community. If you encounter multiple exhausts that are louder, then they must be extremely loud. Compare your exhaust to a stock exhaust...it's MUCH louder. Too loud for me, in fact, but I deal with it for the power gains.
