I was wondering if I need to buy anything additional for my Defi BF's for the install? I have oil pressure and egt. I know nothing else is needed for psi.

The reason why I'm asking is because there are all these extra sensors and fittings to buy, it just doesn't make sense to me. For example in the instructions for the oil pressure it states that I need to use a commerical sensor attachment Is this included with the gauge or do I need to buy it seperate?

You'll at a minimum need a Defi control unit if you didn't get one with your gauges. For EGT, you'll need the proper size drill bit and tap to mount the proble. For oil pressure, it depends on where you intend to mount it. Some mount it in the head at a spare plug on the driver side of the head. Your Defi sensor will screw straight in, no adapters needed, but it won't give you an accurate reading. If you want to use a plug in the oil filter housing, yes you will need an adapter. Design 42 (an Evom vendor) sells them for cheap and they fit properly.

 

Yes, dubbleugly is right. I just installed mine (boost and oil press.) about a month or so ago. I installed mine down by the filter as the ones in the head are just a bear to get to. The adapter from 42 Draft Designs works great. Don't forget to use the teflon tape too.

Sure, no problemo. Some more hints:
Make sure the sender is facing towards the rear of the car once installed, I found that to be the easiest way to run the cables and have it all tucked away as best as possible.

The plug that's in that hole with the hex pattern is in there good and tight. An allen wrench won't do, you need the ones that go in a socket wrench, and I had to use a breaker bar also.

Since you're using oil pressure, it's best to use a power source that only comes on when the key is in the "ON" position, NOT "ACC" as then the oil pressure alarm will keep beeping as long as the accessories are on, VERY annoying. There's a power source in the A/C wiring harness that I used, just use a volt meter to find it. It's in the harness with the smaller wires. The how-tos say to wire it up to the power source going to the cigarette lighter, that comes on with ACC and bit me in the ***. I used the ground and illumination from the cig lighter, battery power from the radio, and switched power from the A/C harness. If I were you, I'd do battery power, illumination, and ground from the radio harness, and the power from the A/C, that way you don't have to mess with the console.
