Mist Pump in air intake?

Hi.. I was in this parts shop today and the guy showed me this strange 'mist pump' that is basically a pump using 'diluted water only' from a reservoir and pumps it in a mist (very thin spray) form into the intake manifold thru a little injector that is cored thru the intake pipe from the turbo..

Anyone heard of those? He said the mist helps cool the air as it goes into the system, and therefore u gain some megaton of horsepowers and all the blablablabla..

Is this for real?

Yes sir it is.

Do a search on methanol injection and something should come up. So far "Snow something" makes a product, AMS makes a product, Buschur makes a product, SMC makes a kit... there are most likely others too but those cater to Evolutions.

From what I gather methanol injection is prob the best bang for your buck as far as power/dollar ratio. But I see you are in the middle east and running methanol injection might be equivalent to running race fuel (not that close.)

But both methanol and race fuel will net you some interesting numbers!

the thread starter was refering to water injection but if you just pour meth in then it's "alky injection" so it's ultimately the same thing except meth will net you more power.

There was a company back in the day that was called "Aqua Mist" and yes it was a mist of distilled water through the intake. Yes it was designed to cool the air and yeild no harm to the engine as it would evaporate and blah blah.

No one saw a difference of the product and i havent heard anything about the system for almost 3 years now.

Yes! the product i actually saw is called Aquamist.. They did mention methanol injection as well and the kit cost some equiv. 1100$

Dunno about installation, they said once installed, the ecu has to be reflashed for the purpose...
