I use my stock suspension (love the Bilsteins), I put my race rubber on the stock 17lb BBS rims, and I absolutely LOVE how hard 5th gear pulls on the road course from 100-130. I compete regularly in drag, auto-x, and circuit - doing well in all of them. However, between this season and next, I will likely finally go to coilovers and a very nice set of lightweight rims that are wider and that can hold some 275 or 285 width race tires.

Anyone who does such a thing early in the life of the MR wouldn't have much reason to pay extra for the MR itself, although you did forget that people can sell those BBS rims and the Bilstein shocks for a pretty penny when upgrading.
