Looking at buying EVO (Trading in S2K)

I was at the dealership today and drove a Evo, overall i liked it. The dealership knew nothing about the car at all, or the options you can get with it. I was looking at the MR till i found out you can't get a sunroof, and the sterero package. So my question is, is the MR all that great for the extra money?

Next they also did'nt know if any models came or could get a intercooler spayer?
If i do go ahead and buy one, since most of you have already bought yours is there anything you regret getting on your evo, or dislike?

I'm just looking for some opinions, since all you own one. They thought my S2000 was a V8, thats how much this Mitsu dealer knew about cars.

Thanks,Seth

wow.

first of all, do not go back to that dealership. ever. again.

i'm assuming u're goin for an Evo IX?

the question regarding which trim's the best to get has been beaten to DEATH on this forum...do a search and u'll find lots of answers. before that just go to mitsu website to read about all the differences among the 3 trims (RS, GSR (base IX), and MR)

none of the Evo IX's come with IC sprayer because it is not necessary.

only regret i have with my Evo is the mpg (can't stop boosting the damn thing).

good luck. this board is VERY sensitive to ppl asking questions without searching first, so make sure u search first before asking anything; u'll find most info by searching anyways

Basically what fusion chicken said. I would just take a look at the mitsu website and search the evo there and look at the trims and models. Its ultimately going to be up to you. IMHO I prefer the 9 gsr over the others. Its faster than the mr, its cheaper, it has most of the ammenities the mr has(ie power windows, locks etc etc), the only things that the mr had that I would like to have is the cf ebrake handle, the VG, and the HID's and thats about it.

For what I mostly do the 6sp tranny is useless to me, so is the zero lift kit.

The mr is more conducive to everyday driving.

The rs is like a race ready car. Its got no power anything and its the lightest and the fastest.

Why? Just because they are ignorant? Sounds like an excellent place to buy the car from. They probably don't know much about Evos because they don't sell many, so they are most likely have been sitting on that car for a while. Sounds like an excellent deal in the making.

As far as service is concerned, well...

Now i all confused so the evo 9 GSR does not have power locks and windows, hid's and i have no clue what the zero lift kit is

If you want a sunroof I believe your only option is the GSR.
I love my MR but if the RS came in other color's I would have gotten one of those.

Mitsucars.com has all the info you need about each model.

Basically:

RS-no power windows, no radio, i do believe they come with A/C now, they dont have ABS, no wing, mirrors and handles are black, aluminum roof(like mr), and basically light

IX(wth SSL PACKAGE) leather seats ofcourse, HID'S, Sunroof, and upgraded speaker package..Sound Sun Leather..Basically if you need a sunroof and leather there you go...I personal think the evo packages suck but what you going to do

IX(GSR) basically standard evo you get a 5spd tranny, No aluminum roof, no hid's...Standard seats,( i got this one)

IX MR-Ok you get a 6 spd tranny, aluminum roof, different wheels, different suspension, wickerbill on the wing(small piece on the back that goes on it) vortex genertor, gauges inside(which you prob will change anyways) Has the HID'S( in my opinion i dont like the mr's just because you dont even need a 6 spd unless ur driving for pleasure and i mean you buy this car to enjoy the speed...

Basically its up to you if u wanna spend 5k more on a MR to me i settled for my IX(GSR) and love it

Makes me wonder sometimes whether or not these dealerships even train their staff on the cars they sell. Well the IX MR will basically get you a few more goodies over the standard GSR. Bilsteins, 6spd, Guage package to name a few. Would it be worth it? IMO, not really unless you plan on keeping you car stock and even then, I'd still go with a GSR. Some ppl get the MR because there's a false sense of exclusivity that comes with it.

The Zero lift kit is nothing more than a few added under car aero parts and the gurney flap that's added to the wing. Not worth getting IMO. The gurney flap alone costs a couple hundred which makes me laugh since you could probably make one out of old wiper blades.

I think the GSR with the SSL package would be your best bet.

I own both an '02 S2k and a '05 GSR EVO also. I didn't think the SSL package was worth the extra premium. I don't think leather seats work well in a sports car. I'm always sliding around on the s2k's stock leather seats. Although the sunroof is a nice to have since your going to miss the convertable

I also sold my S2000 for an Evo. I have the SSL package and love it. I would have to disagree with you Devil Duck, the Evo leather Recaros are far nicer and hold me a lot better than my S2000 seats did.
