I had my fluids changed a bit ago and shortly after I started getting a real bad vibration when turning. I checked my rear diff and here is what I found:



I have NEVER launched my car nor have I ever tracked her. Everything was fine prior to the fluids being changed. Maybe i'm a schmuck, but I don't think the fluid should be creamy should it? TIA.

Redline Heavy Shockproof is my guess.

 

looks like water got mixed with the oil, at least that what happens to engine oil when it gets mixed with water (milky)

Stock diaqueen is gold and semi thick..

 

My question is, is it supposed to look milky like this? I changed it to Mobil 1 75w90 and the vibration is now gone.

 

Wow. That is unusual. I have seen that when you mix brake fluid and power steering fluid. It ends up looking like pepto. That looks like pepto. If I am looking at the pic correctly. I would be worried. Maybe ask TRE or Shepard Racing. They may have seen that before.

 

 

Whether or not it's supposed to look like that, this stuff does not belong in any Evo TC or diff. I had horrible vibrations in low speed turns and now it has all ceased sinced I changed it out. Either way, TC and trans are going off to Shep Racing for some TLC in a month.

Whats wrong with Redline Heavy Shockproof, AMS runs it (me too) its good stuff.

 

It may be fine for some, but after doing some searching, not everyone has the same great results with it. I had nothing wrong with my drivetrain before I changed the fluids. After Redline was used throughout it is now impossible for me to put my car in gear when I turn it on, I must first put it in gear, then start it. This started after the fluid change, I have yet to change my trans fluid, i'm doing it tonight.

After the fluid change in my diff, I started getting OBNOXIOUS vibrations and growling like noises from the rear, never had it before the fluid change. Changed it, and it magically dissapeared. I never track my car, nor do I abuse it. The car sits in my damn garage and barely sees road time.

In no way am I slamming anybody in this post, I am just saying some people are having better luck than others with the Redline fluids, I just don't happen to be one of them.

I think it's not even worth the gamble to try and see if Redline fluid is "okay" for you, just go OEM and save yourself the heartache. My .02.

 

So stock fluid cured it or you used stock fluid and now it is seized?

 

Not so much stock fluid, but I used Mobil1 75w90, shes perfect now, like before.

 

That's definitely Redline Heavy Shockproof in your pic. I had that stuff in my TC for 20K miles and it was fine, but I had 75W/90 in the rear diff. The Heavy Shockproof might not be slippery enough for the rear diff. How come you didn't know you had that stuff in there, did someone else change your fluid and didn't tell you what they put in?
