AMS 50trim just arrived but ???

Just received my kit also but the first thing I noticed was that my turbo doesn’t have GARRETT written on it…
Here is a pic of Blue Evo 8’s turbo

And here is mine..

Other things I noticed was the thickness of the inlet on the comp cover, his is much thicker and mine thinner and he has a A/R .50 and mine A/R .60
The finish isn’t that good either it has a few small holes and rough seams/lines…
After investing this kind of money its got me worried.. Is this normal??

I'm kinda concerned also.... since I have the 50 a/r compressor housing... I tried going to the Garrett website but couldnt find anything.

Behind my compressor hosuing is a label that says "Honeywell by Garrett" or something, then it has the Turbo's serial number and turbo part number 757197-5004

Hopefully it isn't an issue and you guys got the parts you were supposed to . . . AMS is very reputable, and if there is an issue I'm sure they will clear it up

Could you pm the parts he was missing so I know what to look for. I haven’t even started looking through the things yet because of the turbo issue.

Also, does your friends turbo read GARRETT on it?

most of the time Precision makes the housings for many companieslike BR, Turbo Trix, RNR, and Aparently AMS, i dont think that it would be a huge deal, its still a Garret Style. But no Turbo is really by 1 manufacture. alot have different specs. AKA, this is why AMS usually keeps there ar/ specs a secret from the public on some of there turbo kits.

my 2 cents

I've owned several Garrett turbos, they don't all say Garrett on the cover. Precision is a huge garrett dealer, but they use Precisions covers with Garrett CHRAs. Your turbo is fine. Get that thing installed and enjoyed it. Good luck.

if it is garrett it should say garrett, if not then it must be aftermarket("imitation?").

Yea most of the time garretts if they are new they will say garrett. Precision I think has their name casted on it the hotside. I personally prefer garret because precision turbos come with a lot of play compared to garretts, not sure why they do it like that. As far as garrett, they normally do have the serial number by the oil return hole or feed hole. I am sure AMS would not sell you some bootleg stuff though.
