the other side is fabrication could include many other things than just welding. As far as i know fabrication simply means custom making something for an application(correct me if i'm wrong, if its specifically welding). I've made brackets for myself for mounting catch cans, neons, gauges, turbo timers, etc. and ive never welded before in my life. Fabrication could even include electrical I think. If you start making your own harnesses for say an alky install. I think just a general fabrication forum would be sweet.
[ . The only problem I could forsee is people stealing other peoples ideas for designs and trying to make money themselves with it
This is true, hopefully, if there is a concern, folks won't post what they don't want to get out. Otherwise, if you post something to the world, someones gonna copy it if it is a good idea, which is a form of flattery in some cases.
Just for example: we just milled some Dominator carburator spacers for an engine builder. Basically, they are all very similar, yet you make small changes and they basically become your design. I can sit in frt of the CAD/CAM and modify anything to my liking. If I don't want my design to get out too soon, I don't post about it and the program remains in my Mill. Not to say if I sold one, that joe blow down the road won't copy it.... but unless I get into copyrights, thats a chance I take. So far so good-
Some folks design and bring it along with a legal form for me to sign stating I'll not copy and market the product for my own personal gain.
Hopefully it will turn into good useful info that folks a willing to share and not get their panties in a wad!

Welding= Welding
Fabricating= cutting, braking, bending, welding, hammering, english wheeling, plug & mold making, laying up, etc...

Like Full-Races Ram Style when they came out with that it they were LIKE HOTCAKES then people started to copy it. Then i got a EVo and saw RnR's manifold i was like D@mn evos got them too? IM NOT SAYING RNR stole it! i am just using there manifold design as a expmale. im surpised that no one has actually done it here. thats all i see it all over the HONDA boards. people coming out with manifolds.
All i want to do is make a custom 20G manifold for my 8 and Have some of ur thoughts on it. i mean the welds arent going to be perfect but they should be decent. Not a GANGSTA welder yet, im still learning.
Uh just so you know Full Race did not invent the ram horn as they copied it themselves. I forgot the name of what it was copied from, but I do know they were not the first to make it. I think it is a Kooks manifold. Full Race copies it, but supposedly uses robotic tig welds. The thing is it is not fully robotic tig welded on the manifold though, it has various hand welds just like other people who are making manifolds, because I saw a friends topmount from full race
i figure if you have a million dollar idea that you consider worth protecting, you will take the proper steps to protect your intellectual property.
i make it a rule to NOT post anything via email or on a public forum such as this that i value. if it's online it's no longer mine. it's public.

im making a 4 to 2 manifold... 2" primary runner out of 321 ss that sits the turbo off to the driver side right above the slave cylinder and relocating an ams half radiator where the i/c used to sit and using a co2 barrel intercooler for a total upper i/c piping of 19" to help with the gt35rl spool up . it sounds strange but it all should work to gether to aid in spool up time and the 2" primarys should flow good . i think
any way a welding forum on evom gets my vote . besides as pretty as the evos are anything truly custom would be a wecome change . as far as welders i have a lincoln 175 mig and 185 tig
btw im the one who did the custom trunk lip on my bby evo https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...light=wing+guy
i hive pics if anyone is intrested

I think it would be great to add to the advanced forums... it does not necessarily have to be to show how you made your super secret project. It could be more meat and potatoes of how to actually do the work its self.
did some searching last nite and found some good info on fabbing a manifold . hope it helps ... http://www.eagletalon.net/projects/?...20the%20header

Stupid people will wonder why you switched from a large FMIC to a small side mount.
What do you plan on running in the water IC? Straight water or something else like coolant?
