Bone stock EVO, am I the only one?
I'm stock besides a drop in filter and I'm itching for that extra 100hp real bad. Im totally used to the stock power now and the car is starting to feel slow. With the IX its so easy and cost effective to do, which makes it too tempting. Putting down 350whp for cheap while maintaining stock safety and reliability. How could you resist?
Countless times, I've witnessed very formidable/powerful automobiles bettered on the auto-x course by a somewhat modest car that was driven by a good pilot. Toss in some rain, and a Smith-Corona with a talented driver aboard may sweep the field. Perhaps I'm wrong, but the Evo is such an amazingly capable machine that I just don't see how anyone short of a pro can fully exploits its stock capabilities. This may explain why some of us are very content running stock, myself included. Things may be different when it comes to drag racing, which admittedly I don't know very much about.
Don't get me wrong; I think that modding is fun, fulfilling and rewarding. I doubt anyone would disagree.

I want to mod my car because of a-holes with the 6Liter GTO's who think they own the road. I want to see a newer cobra mustang owner's mouth drop. Basically it's not only for the fun factor, but it's for beating those people who are supposed to be faster than me. BUT, I'm stock until warranty runs out.
thats good for you bro, me personally when i first got the car i only did a few exterior mods, next thing i know it. i just couldnt resist trying to get this puppy faster then it is stock. i mean cmon now 3 to 400 hp with a few lil mods.

^ecutek tune, catless tbe, 280 cams, licp, o2 housing, drop in filter. Im hoping for 375-390whp on a dyno jet running 91 OCTANE pushing 25psi (peak). Gotta love the IX. 25psi on 91 with no knock and a perfect a/f
Mine is stock and I'm over 40 years old. I will keep it stock until the warranty is over then might look at mods then. The stock version is pretty suweet. It has all I want in performance, handling and looks.
I wonder what percentage of those who get used to the power of the stock car can make it through a decreasing radius sweeper at the limit of adhesion with the throttle open? Many US roads force one to exit off-camber, as well, which makes for a rather (errrr) exciting experience. I think most are talking about mashing the pedal in a straight line. Honestly, I don't mean to offend. I just have a very difficult time believing that the stock car can be maxed out this easily - by this many people, many of whom are fairly inexperienced/untrained drivers - unless one's only interest is accelerating when the car is pointing straight ahead.
