Loss in value after accident?

ok, my car got side-swiped in front of my house and the driver did not stop. my evo was pushed into a pick-up parked behind me so the is dameg to the front and rear as well as a fender. i was researching selling it 6 months ago and was told the car was not worh that much due to high miles (52k) and some road rash on the bumper and hood. i bought my evo in 2003 the first month they were out and have only driven it to work and back so the miles are a little high but not bad. no mods except the hks intake. never raced or launched. no burn outs or stupid stuff ever. i have had it up to 150 mph on the highway chasing a 911. thats really it. it has been dealer maintained from day one and have all papers. every inch of the car is being polished and fixed with oem parts. so the car will be perfect when returning. the only issue is the clear coat on the calipers has been flaking off since i bought (i called mitsu every week for a month trying to get replacements and they never did anything). i have always used simple green to clean the wheels too. anyway, i want to sell the car and have no clue what is is even worth now that is has a blemished record. no frame damage though. it is a virgin ride and is absolutly perfect.

After the repairs have been completed, go to the local Mitsu sales manager and find out what your car is worth for trade in. Then tell him it's been in an accident and ask if their offer changes. Then get the quotes in writing.

The difference is the diminished value. Provided you have coverage with your insurance company, you'll need to find out if Maryland allows diminution of value claims. Some states allow it. Some states don't.

Good luck!

yeah, i have a diminished value claim in but can't get it adjusted until the car is fixed. on top of the things from the accident i am paying to have the car completely "cleaned up" on the outside. i love the car, but ready for something else.

thanx!
