Notchy *** Gears!!!!

Hey everyone im posting again!! I have a 2006 Evo RS with 230 miles. OMG the gears are notchy as hell. Seems like whenever i shift to 2nd it wants to grind! Is this an indication of no manual tranny fluid? or does the gears have to break in first? Thanks!

the tranny will be notchy when its cold, you only have a 230 miles on your rs, go out for a good 30 mile drive to warm up your car and see if its still notchy

2600 miles on mine and its still notchy. I rather live with it than having the dealer rip out the transmission in the brand new car. When it gets warm, its easier. I can see my tranny going to Shep in a few years (hopefully he'll still be doing work!!)

^ heh thats the dealers only quick fix short.

Try adjusting your clutch throw out a little bit too (clockwise.) Didn't help mine, but has helped others.

BG is a downgrade from the stock fluid unfortunately.

o6RS guy, just chill out and stop making threads constantly about your Evo with only 200 miles. Drive the thing and enjoy it. It's not even broken-in yet and you're being all paranoid like a nervous nelly. Maybe you weren't meant to drive a raw sports car like this if all these little things bother you, or maybe your IX is a complete lemon. At least get the thing broken in before bombarding us with all your paranoia!

Care to elaborate a little? I recently flushed the stock fluid w/ BG syncroshift. At first, it seemed really smooth, but after 1000 miles, I don't like the way it feels.

I recently traded my '05 WW GSR in for my '06 RR RS. My RS has 900 miles as we speak and it is semi-notchy. At first, I had a hard time getting into 1st gear, I was paranoid and thought maybe the clutch was improperly adjusted or there wasnt enough fluid in the rear diff/tcase. Also my car in 4/5th gear from 40-55mph would make a whine noise on accel/decel...that is also starting to fade away. Just be patience and give it some time to properly be broken in. Also remember it's an RS, you have no sound deadening, you WILL hear driveline noises more clearly as opposed to a GSR/MR.

Yes, you are correct. Some people had the same problem, I am one of them. Put GMshyncromesh as soon as you can , you wouldn't regret. The shifting on my 5 speed Evo 9 is like butter now. It use to be the same way as you described.

Good luck and remember, 2.3quarts of GMShyncromesh. Yellow bottle.
