forge mbc easier from under car?
forge mbc easier from under car?
how easy is it to install a forge mbc if you can have access to the car from underneath? What’s a good location for the forge mbc after install? any pics? Also, is there any extra tubing needed for the install? Thanks.

there really is no easy way of doing it.
If you go from under, you need to deal with the under-tray with like 12million clips.
If you go from the top, your knuckles are going to get real bloody with cratch marks all over your arm and knuckles due to very limited space.
If I had to do it all over again, I would go from underneath the car and deal with the 12million clips than have busted a$$ knuckles.
BTW, after I was done installing the mbc and coming inside of my house, my brother was like "did you just have a fight with your evo?"

I think it's like 3/16" vacuum hose(please, correct me if I'm wrong). I did mine from the top, however. Guess I was lucky not to ding my knuckles. Oh BTW, try to mount your MBC as close to the WGA and the reference source as possible, so as to keep the hoses short .
Ideally if you mount the MBC under the car and used the turbo nipple as the source then you would have very short hoses, since it is right next to the wastegate actuator. I wonder how much of a difference that could make.

Its not bad at all to do it from the top. I pulled out the stock intake and hose along with a portion of the upper IC pipe. I left the radiator fan in place. The whole thing took about 45. I did cut one knuckle, but if you wear gloves for most of the job you will be ok. Just make sure the car is not hot when you do the install.
I posted in your other thread...if you take out the air box, uicp and the intake tubing its really not bad to get to. I installed it with the intake tube in once and thought it was hell, then the next time I had it out and it was a breeze.

if you look at the how to there are a lot of pics, i installed mine from the top, which is where you want it so you can adjust it without getting under the car, especially if suspension is something you plan on doing. i mounted mind to the intake stock box bolt, then after my aftermarket intake i used that bracket and drilled into it with self tapping screws
I agree with the comments provided by other Evo owners. It is tough either way, it is not easy due to the lack of space and the undertray.
My suggestion is that once you remove the original hoses from the turbo(nipple on the compresor side) and from the waste gate actuator, that you go and replace the tubes to make them longer so that you can bolt the MBC in an acssesible and handy place. Eventually you might need to readjust the boost once in a while(altitide, temperature, tuning, mods, etc, etc) so you want to have it handy.
