bad Idle on start
bad Idle on start
Whenever I start my car to go to work in the morning I notice my rpms climb to 1500 and stay steady. Im in arizona so at 11 am when I start the car for the first time each day its already a chilling 100+ degrees.
So it will idle like that and by the time I get out of my neighbor hood it starts idling normal, once the car gets warmer. But when I come to a stop it dips down to like 500 than the idle comes back to about 850 to 1000 rpms and it will fluctuate between 800 and 1000.
My car is an 06 IX and my only mod is a BB tbe, I had a exhuast leak and it is now fixed. Also during the install on sunday I damaged the 02 sensor so I have been running without a second 02 sensor(stuck inside the stock cat) and only granny driving the car to and from work. Could this be the cause of the funky idle? I had southcoast overnight me a stock o2 sensor it will be here tomorrow so Im hoping that is causing my issue.
Any help appreciated I have had two other boosted cars but this is my first time dealing with something other than a dodge.

I was also thinking that could be the issue but I didnt think an exhaust could cause that. I have the tactrix cable and the ecuflash software but I dont touch tuning stuff I leave that to the pros.

Car needs to be warm to get out of it's warm up mode. Even though ambient temps are hot outside, that doesnt mean that the cars sensors are going to read as warmed up.
If you use your tactrix cable and take a look at some of the settings you can see that the ECU has pre-programed settings for various temps.
Your car is behaving normally, and the only reason for the o2 sensor is emmissions purposes, the feedback it provides to the ECU doesn't change anything.
The front o2 sensor is a different story.
