30-40K to build a baddass car, but really depends on how radical you want to get. Roll cage, lightweight brakes, upgrade all drivetrain components, etc..... I could probably spend a college fund or two building another one.

Te be the fastest though, you will pay some bucks. That's for sure.

Sorry, I think you are way off. My buddy just went through this - going from a stock car to a full build (almost full). For ONLY engine/turbo/power mods, including parts and labor, the bill is over $24,000. This does NOT include:

clutch ($1800-$3500)
built transmission ($1400)
Quaife LSD ($1500)
built t-case ($700-$1800)
axles ($1000)
wheels and tires ($2000-$4000)

So then we're well into the $30's. I do agree that you could build a nice car for $15-20K, but not a "fully built beast".

Become really good friends with your local car shop because you will be visiting them often for quick repairs every week.
