how much for a 2.3, turbo... basically a beast
how much for a 2.3, turbo... basically a beast
got a quick question and just need an estimate.
Iam looking at going ***** to the wall, the origanal V-8 killa, paint ripping beast.
I was just wondering how much a 2.3 stroker kit installin a block, best heads, intake, GT-40R, axles....whatever the best of the best is. I thought about it and decided i want it in my 2005 Evo 8. i even decided if i must i will sell my stock Evo 8 and just have one... anyone know about how much i would be looking at???

yeah i bought one for a family car then over time of wanting more power that one has a stage 5 kit in it from Buschur Racing, so then i needed a new one that wasnt as fast for the street, so i could take my son to daycare and back. Plus it was so loud with that Full 3" exhaust from Buscur Racing. i liked how loud it was but am a little over protective of my son and dont want to hurt his hearing. So i was going to just buy a regular sedan, but by the time i found one that i liked it was about $30,000, so i just decided to buy another Evo 8, except keep it stock.

oh so anyway, on with my story. we recently moved to a house with 4 car garage (3 attached and 1 detached) and so my wife didnt like her CR-V so we bought her a honda pilot instead. so anyway then when i was at the honda dealership getting her the Pilot we seen a great deal on a used 2005 Pilot so we decided to get them both (only $16,000 for the used one with 12,500 miles). so now we have 4 cars and since i dont need my stock Evo 8 because we have 2 pilots, then i can sell it if i have to. if i dont have to then i will keep it, but it is always an option
LOL, i guess yeah 4 cars for 2 people. BUT in my defense i didnt know we were getting 2 pilots and i had two cars cuz one i drive with my 1 year old son and one i drive alone...
$15k COULD get you the rebuilt block (AMS) / head (Cosworth) + Big turbo upgrade + EMS/tuning and all related install. It can be done cheaper but you want the best right?
If you are going ***** to the wall, as you say, you will need a nice fuel system upgrade, intake manifold, Tranny/T-case/quaife, axles, clutch etc. + labor for all that. $6k+
Then of course, you've got wheels / tire and suspension, another $5k+
Then you start breaking ****...$$$
I have seen friends take on these kinds of rebuilds and even stated going in that direction myself for a while, it is Always more expense then you first estimate it to be.
My advice is to think long and hard before going into a build like this and make sure that you know that even though you will have a very fast car reliablity will always be an issue and you will always have a slow spooling turbo = very annoying, but thats just me.
Good luck on your tuning path and please do your research before dumping the cash on any one place or item.
Cliff notes: Think long and hard about this decision and ride in a few big turbo evos. Sell the stock evo 8 before going "***** to the wall" cuz you will need the cash. Don't forget to buy a nice beater/daily driver because you'll be spend a nice chunk of time in it.
