how do you know if you have a built motor?

I bought my EVO 8 used and dont know if the short block has a stroker kit. I only ask this cause it was modified but then taken back to stock before it went to the dealer. But it still had the aftermarket clutch and pads and rotors and other small things that were necessary or very costly to take back to stock. I know all these are wear out items, but the balance shaft was also eliminated and the only time I have ever seen this is on built motors. Is there a way to tell with out ripping apart the engine? I have also had my ECU flashed by AL and I am stilling running super rich and I put in new plugs and did a boost leak test and everything I could think of.

You could take out a spark plug and look down into the cylinder with a flashlight. If you see a forged piston, then it's built. Somehow I doubt you have a built bottom end though.
