Reinstalling the VG
Reinstalling the VG
Ok, I just t put on my VG with some help from my friend. Apparently his side wasn't even when we stuck the thing on so it a bit off center. The VG on the right side has a small gap which might be annoying when it rains or when wind goes inside it.
I was thinking of removing the VG and reapplying it so it's centered with no gap but the instructions said reapplying the tape more than once greatly reduces the effectiveness of the tape.
Does anyone knows or tried reapplying the VG more than once without any problems? I don't want this thing flying off the freeway.... is there a safe type of glue or tape that I can use to reapply the VG?
I really can’t stand that gap

go to pepboys, get double sided 3m trim tape and replace the original tape. Then, remove cover on the new tape, and heat the tape with a heat gun. Immidiatly apply it to the car. This will be just as strong if not stronger.
I really wish you would have said "vortex generator" at least once, I had to think for a few seconds what vg meant...
I second the new double sided tape, but try a auto finish location that sells paint and other supplies. They might offer better products that many auto rebuilders use to adhere emblems and trim to rebuilt vehicles.

The tape used is the exact same as the 3m trim tape at pepboys. I work in auto restoration and have used it many times and NEVER have had it fail. The secret is heating it with the heat gun before putting it on. Just clean surfaces well too.
Thanks Lancematic and Tristar. I guess I'm going to make a trip to pepboys. How hard is it to remove the VG? It seems pretty sturdy so I hope it doesn't crak or anything....
