Get the kit as it comes with a rubber spacer. The Walbro pump is about 1/8" shorter than the stock pump. The spacer keeps the pump properly seated and assures that all fuel pumped is delivered into the fuel line. You'll get a new filter sock as well.

I installed my pump w/o the spacer and had fuel delivery problems. So, I had to fabricate the spacer.

trust me, get the kit. it will come with the new plastic spacer as stated by sparky aswell as a new fuel filter. i have a 03 evo8 with only 40,000 miles and it was dirty, and i only run 93 oct sunoco gas. after you get the kit, www.evomoto.com has a perfect install guide

no kit needed. i have installed a number of fuel pumps in evo's other than mine. never bought the kit and never had problems with installing it without the kit. i know for a fact that you dont need a spacer for the fuel pump to operate "properly"
