Lightbulb STUPID QUESTION... maybe? To ALL Vendors!

guys Maybe this is a little stupid but...

IMO>it would really help sales..if you put bigger pics on your sites
damn lots of them are smaller than a quarter

Im sorry if this is a stupid thread but I like to see what I buy...and most of the time I buy "my toys" on-line.... you click on a picture and you get a smaller or same size pic

I've often wondered about that myself but its probably more likely who they get these images from to put on their website in the first place.

Not to poke fun but I'm a web developer myself and if i didn't have to put big photos up i wouldn't

Yea I agree!. If you ask me that's the dumbest thing I've seen. Selling something and offering a picture the size of a nail...LOL.

for example the body kits...You want to know how they look and all you get is a blurry half *** Pic...Wow just wow.

Well you do have to look at it from a new perspective after all

How much are they paying their web team? Is it a per hour deal?

What percentage of customers don't buy the parts just becuase the picture is crappy?

Based on those two things if they don't loose customers, or very few, and they have high costs for developing web pages why pay a web developer lots of money on something that doesn't effect your sales?

Busniess logic sucks i know

Im in orlando so it is not that bad as some other states/cities...
but people that dont have "performance shops" around?....also some of these parts are JDM parts.....how many places you can actually go and look at them?

these are just "2" of the .....I dont know, hundreds? of pics you see.
would you pay $700 or $1300+ for any of these two?

I think these are great comments. We definately aren't singling out any individual vendors...

The point was made about server storage costs, etc., but can you honestly think that having higher quality images (or at least the option to click them) won't increase sales to more than offset the costs.

I've skipped over many Web sites due to poor pictures myself...

You know, I agree with you. That's why we use at LEAST 800x600 pics if at all possible.

That often means we're taking the product out and taking our own digital pics, rather than relying on the crappy 100x100 manufacturer picture.

(Here's one I took of the ProRacer lug nuts that we sell.)

Taking that picture, editing it, adding it to the web site, takes time and money. And that, along with other expenses like our high-quality boxes (for undamaged shipments), our laser barcode scanners (for making it impossible to ship the wrong thing), our AWD dyno (for testing product and tuning customer cars) all adds up to higher cost than the shop that doesn't do/have any of that stuff.

SO...if you LIKE sites that have bigger pics, and other "luxury" features (like phones that actually get answered), please patronize those sites. Even if it costs a couple of extra bucks compared to the generic web site with the 100x100 generic photo. I think it's worth it. It goes along with an overall philosphy of customer service and actually knowing and understanding your product rather than just shoveling it out the door as fast as possible. From talking with customers I think a lot of people are looking for a little more in the way of service than what seems to be (sadly) the norm in our little industry.

I agree. I won't buy from a vendor with a crappy website.

I'd rather see pictures of the product that they took themselves rather then the lame stock photos from the manufacturers website. One of it laying on the ground and another installed on a car would be great.

Agree with the OP. I like to see what I'm getting.

(BTW, Dan, if you stop down your aperture, you'll get a lot more depth of field. )
