Unhappy Dealer swapping parts?

I recently had the joy of having an intercooler hose pop off whilst rounding a corner. The engine shut off and I lost power stearing... then slid off the road and had to have my poor baby towed to a good body shop. Tons of stuff is being replaced. ( no engine components just wheel, suspension, and bodywork) luckily i dont have to pay a dime, but thats another matter.

I've heard horrer stories before, but is there anything I should realistically check up on at the body shop in regards to repairs or scandelous replacements?

many thanks.
sincerely

just stop by and check over everything before you take delivery of the car....if your not satisfied they have to redo it no questions ask....but if you take it off the lot you might have to argue with them to get stuff done.

I thought the hose popping off was normal?

Easy fix, just reattaching the clamp.

What are they replacing? Did you damage your car?

Just make sure you do a couple of random drive by's on the shop that is doing the work. That way you can take a look at your car, and they won't be expecting you. I took my car to a body shop when my fender got smashed in, later on I found out that the fender had about 1/2 inch of bondo filler in it.........

Well you just want to make sure the Body shop is a reputable one, I can tell i am about 100% sure its going somewhere else for the mechanical repairs. It isn't common that you see a body shop that can do repair work, or a repair shop that can do body work, so they send the vehicle out for the other work. So find out which repair shop they are going to send it to.

As far as avoiding crashes like that, you should keep the car in gear as much as possible even when slowing down or rounding a corner. But what did you do? boost hear a loud possshhh and take it out of gear? My IC pipe came off and I just left it in gear so the Power steering pump would keep work plus when the car is rolling it isn't all that hard to steer, How did you crash? Confuses me.

I was wondering that as well. Did the wheel lock?

I used to drive a truck with no power steering, it's almost no different when you are going > 20 mph.

Now would be a good time to upgrade to Tclamps. They are a coupple bucks a piece and maybe next time you wont be without your evo for a month.
