Yes... yes I have. I've only been in the area for a few months since I just moved from Illinois, but the first time I saw it, I thought it was madness. People get used to it though.

Leaving a manual transmission in gear while parked has been an issue for many, many years. My auto shop teacher advised us that if there is a sudden impact of somebody bumping the car, the transmission gear can get damaged/cracked/chipped if the car is left in gear while parked. I've always kept my manual transmission in neutral when ever my car is parked.

it's fun when you put the ebrake on in winter after driving in slush and your ebrake line freezes. I never put the ebrake on. Unless it's a hill and I have to.

I don't ever leave my car in gear unless I'm on a hill. I have the bad habit of letting the clutch out after starting the car. A few times, when tire places have pulled my car up, they leave it in gear, causing me to do that "I'm retarded" forward lurch/stall. *******s.
